What will Tepper's front office look like?

If we hire someone like Josh McDaniels, he will surely want to have a Bellichick like role.  I could see Tepper offering that to Josh and moving Hurney to an assistant GM type of role to help with scouting, etc.  

But it begs a larger question - what does Tepper envision his front office to look like, and is it dependent on which coach he hires?  Someone like Bieniemy wouldn't warrant that type of power which could mean that Hurney retains his GM role or forces a seperate search for an assistant GM to help manage the cap, sign players to contracts, etc.  

I would personally like the Bellichick model - find a HC who is capable of overseeing all of football operations and having complete control of the roster.  Either way, if Tepper wants to keep Hurney on board, it better be in a significantly limited role that utilizes his strengths (if there are any).

My biggest expectation is that it'll be organized.

Richardson just tended to give jobs to people he liked.  When talking about the business side, Tepper has called it "an unholy mess". I wouldn't bet on the football side being much better.

That'll probably be the biggest change, a much better structure.

The biggest question mark is whether he's going to put the right people in place.

He lost a power struggle in Cleveland with Paul DePodesta, who is just the opposite.

That’s what blows my mind. Tepper has publicly commented on the business side and how bad it was, he has/will be investing a ton into “getting it right” and people just want to complain about Hurney and compare Tepper to the browns owner. No one remembers or even mentions how many people left under Richardson that was never replaced and the random people put into roles who had no business being there.

The biggest thing about Richardson was he promoted people for being loyal to him, not for being good at their job. Basically, if you kissed his ass, you got ahead. It's like the worst caricature of management come true.

A former employee previously told me there were so many people in that building doing jobs they weren't qualified for that if anybody ever did an audit, an awful lot of people would be out on the street. Sounds like that already happened on the business side. And the rumor a while back was that a bunch of people in our scouting department had been told their contracts weren't being renewed (that sort of mass firing typically happens right after the draft) so it's at least possible that the football side of things is next.

So then if you're Marty, how would you feel seeing everybody you put in place being shown the door and replaced by a bunch of people who don't necessarily have any loyalty to you?

It’s going to be a lot more organized than it was when he took over. There were people put in positions that never should have been. JR hired friends, not football people.

And I don’t really see Tepper giving a guy like Josh total control, he hasn’t done anything to show he has that ability.

He's already said that whoever gets the job will have pretty total control over the football staff and will have a say and who gets the new VP position.

Having a friend in leadership sometimes is just as good is having the job yourself.

The front office looks better than the back office.   Without a window there's not natural light and the paint is drab so it has a dungeon-like feel to it.

That's a good point. I heard Brian Billick earlier say that he preferred NOT to have to keep up with every personnel decision. He said, as a coach that he didn't have time to do all that and be the best coach he could be. He said he wanted to work with someone he got along with and was good at their job. I would agree that is the best model.
