Tua returning?

they way they manage it speaks on the topic at hand IMO.  The management of the offense just wouldn't make any sense of Herbert was on par w/ Trevor. Even the most stubborn coaches in the world.....eventually give in to elite QB talent and let them do their thing.

Yeah, putting on my homer hat it reminds me of Howell at UNC. Early on, the coaching staff really protected him with simplified conservative offensive game planning but it didn't take them long to see what they had in the kid and they started just letting him rip.

Can nobody can see past a damn record?  Our IR read like a novel including our starting QB and a defensive scheme that was ill-conceived considering we didn't have the parts in place to run it effectively.  The last two games (1.5 games) with Grier  at QB is holding water too?  Boy, oh boy.  We were so bad, that only Joey Slye cost us an upset versus the Saints in the Super Dome.  Firing the HC with 4 games left didn't have an impact on team morale?

Yup, none of that matters one bit, we just suck!

Freaking fickle @ss fans.

I'd pass on Tago. I like the guy, but he's already injury prone. Way too risky for a 1st rounder.

I'd rather take a OT/OG in the 1st rounder & go for someone else in 2nd round like Fromm or Eason. Our o-line is pure garbage. Has been for years & NEEDS to be addressed.

just be wasting a 2nd rounder.  Probably can get a 1st round caliber WR w/ our 2nd round pick.

I think giving Cam 1 year to prove he can get healthy makes a lot of sense.  Spend this year investing around the QB position.  OL largely.  An additional weapon or 2.

Then make a move at QB the next year if Cam can't get right.

Furthermore, if we suck so bad, it doesn't matter if Cam comes back.  You can't have your cake and eat it too.  We either can build with what we have or we can't because apparently this team is akin to the Browns practice squad.  Cam is only one player.  Again, you can't have it both ways.

The bottom line is that without Cam we're trash. So if you're moving on from Cam, prepare for trash and if you're gonna be trash you might as well try to turn aging player assets into draft assets to get young talent to build around.

That's what we're saying. Now if you keep Cam or if say you land a QB that you think is the future at #7, then the outlook completely changes.

I think part of the reason why Tepper claims to despise mediocrity is likely because he understands that in the NFL mediocrity is purgatory. You're likely to remain in a spot where you're not able to truly compete for SBs but you're not bad enough to put yourself in position to make it likely to land franchise altering talent in the draft.

That's the fallacy of the argument:  Cam returning turns this "garbage" team into contenders?   It's either the team is garbage or it's not.  Put Cam aside for one second.  So is the team garbage?

Yes, without Cam the team is garbage. We saw that. In the NFL, elite franchise QBs allow you to compete. Put Cam on this year's team and we're probably in wildcard contention and we're just talking about strengthening the trenches and making a real run next season.

Healthy Cam? He can carry a team that is trash. Look at when we were the #1 offense in football. It was Cam and Olsen and a bunch of C- players at that point in their careers. We need a long term answer at QB. If Cam isn't healthy, he isn't the answer.

Got it, so Cam would be coming back playing for a garbage team.  QBs are 1/22 of the starting lineup and considering sub-packages, more like 1/25  or so. A lot of bad ju-ju and mismanagement went down to get that 5-11 record.  I think we are bad, but not as bad as garbage...no matter who the QB is.  I know the win/loss record is the only stat that matters, but it takes a bit to understand why.  5-11 means the team is garbage is a shallow argument and the one the "blow the whole damn thing up" crowd like to point to.  Get in that mentality we become the Browns fairly quickly.

QB counts for more. Not all 22 starters are equal.
