But everyone said Cam was going to Chicago

If we land Mike McCarthy, he may be able to elevate Cam's play in a way we all wanted. Everyone knew Cam needed to make his reads faster but it largely ended up with CMC getting 100 receptions instead of looking to receivers. McCarthy's offense would give Cam outlets in the route tree rather than solely relying on an outlet in a running back.

If it doesn't work out with Cam and we start losing, IR Cam and suck again and hope we can get Fields or Lawrence.

McCarthy may give Cam a route tree, but I have two thought on this:

1.)  If McCarthy is going to hang his hat on "fixing" Cam through his route trees he better make sure Cam has an o-line that gives him at least 5-7 seconds in the pocket to go through his progressions &

2.)  Cam has never been the greatest at going through route tree progressions.  He isn't your prototypical NFL pocket passer and at 30 years old will probably not become one anytime soon.

I love Cam, his heart and determination.  Cam is a great athlete and has pretty much always left it out on the field for us, but Cam is a hybrid QB who came out of college with a huge arm and unreal athleticism in a linebacker's body.  He never was projected to be a QB that stood in the pocket and picked teams apart a la Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Montana etc.

The national media wants the Panthers to be irrelevant. In light of that the franchise has overachieved.

Was thinking about this the other day. Cam's presence keeps this franchise relevant while both winning and losing.

If he leaves, we're only relevant when we win. Like the Titans or Jags.

Let me rephrase it, I never heard anyone with real info about the situation. Everyone should know those guys are usually pushing one of the involved parties’ agendas.

Oh, I understand. I’m just relaying what some people were referring to.

not sure anyone has, at least from this forum. plenty of guys speaking cryptically so they can pretend they knew something after the fact though.
