I'm cheering for Ron, simply because I enjoy seeing people voluntarily taking on challenges.   These days, too many coaches ride the pine until "the perfect opportunity" arises.  I love seeing someone taking the hard path instead.

LOL yeah okay.

By taking the first job available and only interview considered, while joining a cakewalk division that just fielded a 7 win division winner while 3 of the 4 teams are undergoing coaching changes.

What an extremely hard path.

You make it sound like a lot of us haven't been tired of him for a long time and are glad he's gone. I was only bitter while he was here the last few years. No bitterness now.

Imagine having been under Dan Snyder's ownership for 20 years with no end in sight.

Heck, I didn't even realize he'd been the Redskins owner for that long until I looked it up.

What makes it worse for the longtime fans is some of them are old enough to recall when the team was really good. That's a distant memory now.

I'd guess they had their optimism beaten out of them a long time ago.

9 win division winner.  Get the basic facts straight before offering your opinion.  Also, Philadelphia went 9-7 with a banged up roster.  It stands to reason that they'll be better than 9-7 next year.  And I know people love to dogpile on Jerry Jones, but the fact is that Dallas hadn't had a losing season since 2015 (when Romo got hurt), and they field a talented roster.   Washington, on the other hand, has been one of the NFL's worst franchises over the last 20 years.  It's a massive challenge.

I remember when Cam dragged us to within a few plays of beating NO in the playoffs with a one armed Devin Funchess as his number one, that was strangely tragic

@ellis posted a thread on twitter of every Cam throw from that game.  The effort by Funchess on the last play of the game was so pathetic and still gives me anxiety.

Hopped on over to a RS forum to see what they were saying about Ron. Pretty realistic bunch. Poor guys just want one winning season. Here is my favorite post.

I'm not enthused by this pick.  The Panthers were pretty middling when he was there.  That Super Bowl run makes him seem better than he is.  I'm more influenced by the underwhelming 3 winning seasons out of 9 part.  Hell, Norv had as many winning seasons here in less time

I give Ronny 4 years.

2020- 8-9 wins and a possible wild card.

2021- The peak of the Rivera era.  We win 11-12 and go on a deep playoff run, at least NFC championship game appearance.

2022- 7-9, disappointing year.  Dan Snyder interferes heavily in the 2023 offseason.

2023- 5-11.  The Rivera era comes to it's natural conclusion. Dan fires everyone and starts over again.

We need a laugh button on here.  This is so accurate.

My entire Family is from the DC area and my cousin is a huge skins fan. We talked about the hire a bit last night.

He isn't anticipating a super bowl. He expects a playoff run here and there, but what he anticipates the most is the culture change that Ron will bring. Said it's a toxic team from the top down and Rivera could bring some steady leadership and accountability to an organization severely lacking in it. He is excited for Rivera simply for the culture change and I think I agree with him.

I think Ron is a very good guy .  He is well liked by the players and will probably take some of our players and maybe a coach or two with him to the Skins .  HIs biggest problem is that he likes his veterans too much .  He does not develop the younger players who are better than the vets that get playing time .  Its only when he is forced to play them that he shows up as Riverboat.   I wish him well and thank him for his time here , but Tepper needs to put his stamp on this team . Only time will tell if its good or bad .

Washington does have the 2nd pick again. They will get a quarterback. It may be Tua if it’s for Rivera and they recreate the Cam magic.

The Rosen/Murray situation in Arizona was an exceptional circumstance. I don't see Washington giving up on Haskins. They won't go QB at #2.

Half time adjustments ain’t in Ron’s repertoire. That would take planing and puting  in some overtime after work to be prepared.

And he ain’t about after 5pm work

Probaly one of the biggest indictments I had on Ron. What coach says he doesn’t believe in working past 5pm and that it isn’t necessary

Btw it definitely looked like he lived this for 9 years cause we were always ill prepared especially after a Bye week. Or any games against coaches that did put OT in.

I honestly believe Ron likes the idea of being a HC he just doesn’t want  to do the work it involves to be a great HC

Ron jumping on the redskins job was all ego. Make it look like he is such a hot commodity just go ahead and go with the first team that jumps in line. Seriously.

"Hey, look at me im the poo. Already got a new gig."

Not fooling anyone.
