We do kind of, he's letting Hurney have a major role in the head coach search and the assistant gm search.

The report that he was involved in the coaching search came from Ian Rapoport, not The Athletic.

As to the Assistant GM search, Joe Person is the only one I've seen mention that and he said he doesn't know how much Hurney is involved, or if he is at all.

Report is he's being serious considered for Washington with Rivera.

I doubt it unless something drastically changes in Carolina between now and after draft. Trust me he's involved with both searches as of this moment.

Saw that. I'd love it but I'm not sure I expect it.

Said elsewhere the coaching search may have an effect. The new coach is supposed to be given a say in the new front office hire. McDaniels is expected to already have somebody in mind (maybe Nick Caserio but more recent reports suggest Dave Ziegler).

Whether the other coaches have particular preferences, don't know. McDaniels would seem to be the most likely to shake up the front office. It's hard to imagine him wanting to work with Marty Hurney.

Dave Ziegler makes much more sense for McDaniels, probably the Panthers too.

I don't have a favorite in the coaching search, but I do get the sense that McDaniels is the quickest path to a Hurney free Panthers team and I'm totally in favor of that.

Ya Ziegler is the one the media is hyped on.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again though Borgonzi did wonders and rebuilt KC from almost the pit of hell(aka where we are residing for the foreseeable future).

I’ve come to believe over the past few weeks Hurney has the delusion he’s basically owns this team,  it’s his team and the buck stops with him. Therefore he’s going full yes-man to Tepper, to his face while doing what ever the fug he wants behind the scenes. That’s the only way any of this makes any sense.

If more coaches keep turning us down it becomes clearer and clearer Hurney wants complete control all the time.

I wouldn't be sp sure of that, any front office hired is going to get the VP position.  At least for one season, but if McCarthy is hired I'd also imagine Hurney staying longer.

I think the quickest path to being free of Hurney is Rivera in Washington. Tho if Tepper really likes Hurney and doesn't want to loose him, I doubt they would grant the interview.

There's loads of speculation about that right now.

it seems fairly likely that somebody from the Panthers front office is going to wind up with a job in Washington. Hopefully it's Marty, but he might not be the only one.

I’m pretty sure Tepper would have to drag Hurney kicking and screaming to a Washington interview.
