Marty Hurney has had his name connected to a couple of places, most notably Washington, where Rivera will have substantial input in the next general manager hire following the draft.

Tepper publicly stated that Hurney would stay in his place as the general manager of the Panthers — though the team will hire an assistant general manager/vice president of football operations in the near future. All indications from within the organization are that the plan in place will not change, including the fact that Hurney has continued some contract discussions with free agents James Bradberry and Tre Boston.

“I couldn’t have more respect for Marty. I think the team would be smart to keep him in some capacity around here,” said Olsen. “I think his track record and his understanding of relationships and his understanding of drafting, and young players, I think is really strong. I think he’s a huge asset to the organization.”

Hurney will likely address the media at some point in the next week, per NFL rules.

He's leading the coaching Hire along with Tepper. Once the head coach is found, the three of them will work together to hire the assistant gm/vp.  Hurney has massive control over both hiring processes.  It's not 100% his coaching decision but he's heavily involved and same thing will happen with asst gm

    • You go after my guy with nonsense like "I don't see quickness or explosiveness" and "I haven't seen a lot of quickness or full route tree ability that we always ignore" Then yea, I'm gonna punch back. Like I've said, if people want to draft someone else, that's totally fine, everyone has their own opinions.  But if you're going to advocate against a specific player, don't talk complete nonsense about their game like this. Even more so, don't do that when you're saying I'm the one with a bias towards him. If I was afraid of it looking like a bias pick on my part, I'd never have said I was an Arizona alumni when arguing for him, but I've admitted it from the very beginning, because I don't think my Arizona connection gives me a bias, it just means I know his game REALLY well as I've seen every snap of his college career.  So yea, you start saying the knocks on him are things that he's actually really good at, then you're going to get an earful from me with some video evidence to back it up. In the end, for me, it all falls back to how rare a player like T-Mac can be due to his size.  The smaller speedier type of WRs are exactly who you can find in later rounds and who become available as Free Agents, I can't ever get on board with taking a Hunter (as a WR) or Burden over T-Mac if all were on the board, for that reason alone, and I'd say that if he was a freaking Sun Devil, no matter how much it would hurt me to admit if it if that were the case.
