QB issue will solve itself

Those who attended week 1&2 games knew the feeling of Cam Newton's play was not the same as the past. We obviously miserably lost those two games. I think Cam comes back in 2020 and is either the Cam of old or completely sucks. If he sucks and looks like early 2019, we tank and get Trevor Lawrence and ZERO dead cap hit from Cam. The only reason we weren't in the Joe Burrow conversation is Kyle Allen was good enough to win a few games until good teams got film on him. I think this team is going to be in the 1-3 conversation barring a comeback player of the year from Cam. I was ok with moving on from Cam when it looked like KA might be a serviceable game manager, but he is obviously a backup. If Burrow has some horrible scandel that drops him to #7, then obviously cut Cam lose, but it's obvious without Cam, we will be TERRIBLE next year anyway. In the end, the KA run will prevent us from even having to consider drafting a QB unless we believe in Herbert.

Regardless of whether you believe the QB situation will solve itself, and I could point out any number of plausible scenarios that could come to pass outside of the options you've mentioned, what will NOT solve itself that plays heavily into the QB situation is the OL and specifically LT. I am in favor of using this year's top pick to address that position if a quality prospect is available, with the idea that said cornerstone LT will either be guarding Cam's blind side through the latter stages of his career when it's really needed, or letting whatever qb we draft next year (please Jesus let it be Lawrence) develop without getting killed.

One problem to your scenario.  Cam is not going to go out next year unless his leg is broken in two.  It's a contract year for him and he'll play with a million breaks if it means 80 million dollars.  So, there is 0% chance we will be in the running for a top pick if we don't trade Cam this offseason.

This is assuming that we use that pick to fix the o-line. We either are going to SUCK or be pretty good with Cam. We will likely be able to get a QB in 2021

Did you watch week 1&2? Cam went out hurt and we started 0-2 against 2 teams who missed the postseason

Did you watch the games?  The team was in it until the very end and was a yard shy from winning the Buc game.  That doesn't get a top pick in the draft.  You have to be incredibly bad from the start.

I guess I respect OP’s endless optimism about literally everything

Not gonna be pessimistic. When has our franchise ever went a whole decade without one super bowl apperence? We went from 2010 to a first round bye in 2013 to a super bowl apperence in 2015, that's with pervert Jerry as owner. I love how everyone thinks the sky is falling cause Fewell didn't go 4-0 when Ron was fired.

If we are as bad as we we're last year, Cam will get killed by week 6. Kyle Allen is a 23 year old young man, a 31 year old QB who has been through what Cam has won't take the same punishment.

Yes, using the pick to fix the o line is what I am advocating, partly based on the evidence of the past two years that no qb is safe behind our present line (4 qb's injured in the pocket behind said line), and partly on the unlikelihood of a sure fire prospect being available in the draft. I think the only way Cam makes it all the way through next season is if he has decent protection.

Let's count the unproven assumptions in this statement. Who wants to start?

What's an unproven assumption?  The only one I count is your own.  Cam has shown to play through pain and even hide it.  Why would he not try to prove his doubters wrong in a contract year and earn his next big payday?

Absolutely. I think Paradis might be like Poe, this might've been a bad injury year, I think we should draft a LT and bring Dayrl Williams back at vet min. Remember what he was in the Dallas game in 2018 before he got hurt, good chance he might have a off year.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
