"Several Defensive players in a group chat about wanting to play elsewhere"

Lol this defense literally finished 31st in points allowed. Hell, with the way things were going if the season was a bit longer they wouldve easily been dead last and yet they are acting like they are something? Sure the QB and offensive line sucked too but good lord with a supposed defensive genius leading nearly all season and these guys being mostly high round picks or free agent targets how do you finish 31st in points allowed???

Honestly, if they tried their best we should be looking for upgrades. If they werent trying well they shouldnt be here and hopefully take that mentality elsewhere and fail. They get paid too much to pull that stuff and shouldnt be accepted.

If the defense wasn't allowing Jag Joe running back to rack up 100 yards a game this year we would have won 9 games.

Van Roten's intelligence is a great point.  He is an inferior physical talent, but he was smart--he dabbled at C for a while--wonder if he can play it at a high level?

I think GVR is a valuable guy to have on the roster as a versatile backup interior OL. Same with Larsen. We need starters.

Spot on. I think Addison has always been almost criminally underrated

Boston is better than some people want to believe although not great

Bradberry is not a top 5 corner IMO, but we need to consider everything including franchising him to keep him

McCoy is not as great as he once was, but he's still a good player. I would liked to have seen what him, Short, and Poe could have actually done healthy.

Cockrell was a solid piece.

I would like for them to resign Van Roten if the price is right. He might not be a great starter, but hes a smart player and the line played better with him in there. Still would like to upgrade at starter.

Vernon Butler was a bust as a first rounder, but he's a NFL caliber player when he's motivated

In an IDEAL world, I'd keep Addison, Boston, Bradberry, McCoy, Cockrell and GVR. Unfortunately, we don't have the money. Addison and McCoy are likely headed to contenders on short term deals, Boston SHOULD return but I fear he is once again going to overestimate his value, Cockrell may find a bigger market than we can pay for, Bradberry is going to be simply too much money for us to afford without getting into cap hell and GVR will have to accept a backup salary.

If we get two from that group back, that would be doing pretty well.

That is why our mighty owner made the coach in charge of that unit the interim head coach.

it was him or washington or norv.  he didn't have a lot of choice.  ron's staff was abysmal.   and i actually meant the overall D and not the D backfield

We can easily afford these players. Its just whether we want to.

Boston is a pretty average safety. If he wants a "big deal" let him seek it elsewhere. He's tried that twice now and still hasn't gotten it.

He's above average and he has legitimately improved since his first stint here. But we can't be paying him mega bucks.
