If anyone thinks this team will be even remotely competitive next season they are in for a rude awakening.  We are in for a two year rebuild before there is even a chance to be competitive.   This team cannot be rebuilt in one off-season.

The variables are too many. I'm expecting this team to be 'rebuilt' in at least 4 years from now. It all depends on whether the next HC keeps Cam or doesn't want anything to do with him. It's that simple.

No. We hire McCarthy. Cam is healthy. And we go 13-3 in 2020.

The teams play since Rivera's departure is not indicative of how well the team overall is. When Rivera got canned the players heard, season over, checking out!

Thanks for the laugh.  I needed that.

Are you wagering on that?

So, the team was not checked out when it lost the last four with Rivera roaming the sidelines,  including a huge loss to a bad Falcons team, at home, and giving up 29 straight in a loss to a team auditioning for the #1 draft choice (and ultimately secured #2)....also at home?  That team is going 13-3 with the addition of a healthy Cam?

Cam alone will not make a difference on this team.  Counting on him as your only option next year would be foolish to say the least.  But even if a miracle happens and he comes back and stays healthy all season that would not fix his oline and the abomination of a defense they have.

This team as constructed is toast.

Those are exactly the variables I'm speaking of. This team has way too many holes, that partly were created by the previous regime, and the new one will either fix or implement their own system and start over. A healthy Cam would help a faster rebuild but for how long? IF tepper is thinking long term success a 31 year old coming off surgery will only do so much in a fixed amount of time. These are the decisions they have to make. But if people think that this team will be playoffs bound in one or two years they are sadly mistaken.

Im hearing rumors of Cam and the Raiders possibly a trade. We will have to wait and see how serious they are.

I could see that from the Raider perspective.  They have already indicated they want to move on from Carr, and the want to make a splash as they move to Vegas.

As for questions about Cam's health.....well, they didn't get to be the Raiders by accident.

The team was checked out when Cam went out .. anybody with any real sense knew the Panthers had no chance at anything when Cam was out. The Kyle Allen thing was a gimmick and anybody with common sense knew that. Including the team.

So now they checked out after week 2?  Seems like you are saying they quit BEFORE they knew how long Cam would be out for.  The team with that level of competitiveness is going 13-3 with only the additions of Cam and McCarthy?

In 2008, Tom Brady went down in week 1.  The Pats went on to post an 11-5 record.  They missed the playoffs that year, but they didn't go down without a fight.  By your own definition, the 2019 Panthers lost Cam Newton in week 3 (for all intents and purposes, prior to week 1), and proceeded to go 5-11.

Which of those scenarios indicates a team more likely to recover and go 13-3 the following year?

Yep, Cam with an average to great o line is magical, and can and will produce a winning season. Just need a healthy Cam and to get the o line in order. Pair that with an offensive minded coach, which is what most of us has wanted for years. Yas!

If that is in place, then the defense can be average.

How many games did we lose this year because we couldn't punch it in from 2 yards out? All things being equal and assuming Cam could have at least won the games Kyle Allen won, we have 3-4 more wins even with this oline. No team is stopping a healthy Cam from the inside the 2 yard line. No team. That alone puts us at 8-8 or 9-6. Add in a healthy Cam beats a bad Falcons at least once and the Redskins at home, and you're probably looking at a 10 win team.

Improve the oline and a healthy Cam does make a HUGE difference. Ya'll forget what this team was when Cam came here. He fixes alot of the team's issues. That concept kept Rivera employed for 8.5 years and won him 2 COY awards.

I know, right!

our offensive line is a total failure and our defense is on record as being one of the worst ever ever.

i mean, Patrick Mahomes can’t overcome his defense and Andy Reid with all the talent they have so what makes people think Healthy Cam Newton can overcome our complete disaster.

actually if I were Cam and Luke and I wanted to go to the HOF I would Definitely get out of this debacle.
