McCoy: "Thatd be the dumbest thing they ever did is let Cam walk"

McCoy talked openly about how the presence of a player like Newton was key in him deciding to sign with the team.

Just because we move on from Cam and have cap space doesn't mean we are going to be able to convince quality free agents to sign here. Does anyone think a promising player who is looking to build on their NFL career will be won over when they see Kyle Allen and Will Grier penciled in as the current quarterbacks?

If you don't keep Cam you have to make big moves to bring in someone else. That's either through moving up in the draft or trading for another quarterback. If Cam is gone and we have to wait until 2021 then next year we might as well not even bother to field a team.

Pssssst....if we were smart we wouldn't try to be competitive next season, just sayin.

If anyone thinks this team will be even remotely competitive next season they are in for a rude awakening.  We are in for a two year rebuild before there is even a chance to be competitive.   This team cannot be rebuilt in one off-season.

It really makes no sense, but I talk to "huge fans" all the time who have no clue what they are talking about, and this is in the real world.

Full teardown is needed, this season only proved it further.

I can’t really see McCoy staying, which is kinda too bad considering who else we have at DT.

odds do seem long on that, which would be a shame. TN Panther is right, dude is witty, high character, and if he's no longer the dominant force he was in Tampa, I think he's still got something left in the tank if the price is right.

Bring Cam back, sign a decent veteran OL, sign a couple of decent veteran DL, and then draft well and I absolutely think this team can compete.

That's what was said last off-season.  It's going to take a lot more than that this time around.  And there's this issue of the same guy that tried that last time is going to be doing again this time.  I'm not holding my breath.

It's going to be impossible to satisfy the fan base no matter what happens.

If Mike McCarthy comes in and Cam stays, we're probably still going to have a shitty defense next year.

If they decide to completely tank for Trevor while trading away Luke + Cam and doing a Raiders style rebuild, the fanbase is going to riot.

Sadly, that option is likely the best for future success.

No. We hire McCarthy. Cam is healthy. And we go 13-3 in 2020.

The teams play since Rivera's departure is not indicative of how well the team overall is. When Rivera got canned the players heard, season over, checking out!
