In all fairness he was an inexperienced and arrogant 32 year old back then. People can change with experience.

They can, but the rule of thumb is they tend not to. I sincerely believe that one of Rivera's downfalls is mid Panthers career he actually tried, legitimately tried to change and become less conservative, which spawned the whole Riverboat Ron thing, but it is extremely hard for most people to change their core self, and he eventually fell back into the conservative nature with which he is comfortable. The question with McDorkface is is being a douche part of his core self or something he can grow out of? 32 is young for an NFL head coach, but as a human being it is fully adult and matured, and there tend to be few meaningful changes to personality from this point on in most people.

Do you know many people who were douchebags in their early 30's who became well regarded leaders of men later on in life?

He underestimated the roles and responsibilities of being a head coach. Dealing with media, agents and medical staff more often. Overseeing all 3 phases of the game. He was an Xs and Os guy that preferred to sit in a room with the door closed and grind the tape. It's possible he was just overwhelmed at the time.

Now that he knows what being a head coach is all about, he can be more prepared this go around.

This seems possible but awfully reductionist and is predicated on a guy's misunderstanding of a job's responsibilities somehow changing an entire negative aspect of his personality ie poor interpersonal skills. McDorkface wasn't only annoying and disliked in Denver, word is players tend to generally find him a douche wherever he goes. I would not bet on better preparation resulting in a McDorkface people like and want to play/work hard for.

I was reading something on pro football rumors and they say those guys can't interview this week because of wild card games but they can next week? Is that right I thought they couldn't interview the same week of the game if they are still in playoffs.

My understanding is they can only interview if their teams are out. So basically, coaches for four teams who can't interview this week will be free and clear next week.

There's conflicting information about that whole process out there, though.

Probably the first round is with Marty and the second round might be with Dave.

Could be, but could also be both with both. Some organizations use an approach of analyzing a first interview, determining what you liked or were concerned about from it, then using the second interview to dive deeper into areas of concern or that you'd want to know more about. Just depends.
