There was some talk oh, I think from Albert Breer, that McDaniels might think Charlotte is a good place for his family.

And it's a fair question regarding his wife and kids. If you'd spent your last several years living in Foxboro, would you want to live the next several in Cleveland or Charlotte?

And I wonder if the opportunity to build this team his way isn't also particularly intriguing to him.  It would be one thing if JR was still the owner, but Tepper is open about his willingness to use any resource at his disposal to make this team a winner.  So, McDaniels knows that he will be given whatever he needs to be successful with no chinsing.

The idea of going home to Cleveland might be something that interests him, and he also would have a fairly ready made team to work with.  But while that may seem nice for someone that just wants to step into a relatively easy situation, it would make it more difficult for someone that wants to put his fingerprints on the team.

Any success will have the asterisk that it was pretty much a ready made team, just waiting to be molded, whereas if he can turn the Panthers into a success, he'd get all the accolades of building a contender from the scrap heaps.  For someone with an ego and a high degree of confidence, Carolina might just be the more attractive option...and we all know McDaniels definitely has an ego.

Structure wise, I think we're in the better position.

usually coaches don't incite bidding wars and the top offers will probably be similar.  I think a HC's decision comes down to what kind of shape the team is in and what does the Front Office look like.  The Panthers roster on paper is less than Cleveland and I think the FO situation is a dead heat.

Any situation where there is a big desire for the same thing by competing organizations can result in a bidding war.  That's not saying it would get to ridiculous levels, but if Tepper really wants him, he has no problem spending what it will take to get him.

One other aspect here is the stability of ownership.  While there is a lot of unknowns with Tepper, Haslem is well known to be running a dysfunctional organization without any level of stability and the entire organization seems to be completely rudderless.  Heck, the one thing they were praised for was hiring Dorsey and allowing him to bring some stability, but even that has turned a bit dysfunctional.  And Tepper seems to be fairly close with Bob Kraft, so his endorsement could also play a role (not that we will ever know).

To be honest, I think we are actually in a really good place.  The only real issue is that we don't know what's going to happen at QB (which is a big issue, I realize).  But we have some legitimately big time core pieces already in place.  And we also have a good amount of cap space available, along with the realistic possibility of hugely adding to it with some strategic cuts...not to mention high draft picks in each round.  So, for a coach that wants to build a team, we are probably very interesting option.

Not sure if this was posted and know how many feel about La Canfora but don’t recall seeing much around our interest in Stefanski.

That's the first mention of him. Still no mention of Greg Roman.

Sounds like it's uncertain whether Matt Rhule will actually talk to us.

I seen that, don't see how it could be done next week if we can't interview two of those. Unless they mean they will have interviews setup. It's the NFL probably can get around any of it lol.
