Really wish we weren’t putting all our eggs in one basket. I doubt Tepper is that short sighted and that the organization is staying tight lipped as they can be about some candidates but I fear that’s not the case.

Just look at all the legitimate candidates that have been talked about, now go look at the handful of openings.  This is why I'm not worried.  Sure, Tepper may have his eye on McDaniels, but if Josh decides to go to Cleveland and the others on our interview list don't work out, there will still be a pretty big pool of qualified candidates to choose from.

Tepper is a patient man, and he usually gets what he wants.  I'm sure he has a timeframe he is working with, and he's likely willing to wait to make sure he makes the right decision...not just the easy or popular one.  After all, there's not much happening right now that demands immediate attention by the coach.  Even hiring assistants shouldn't be a problem given the relative small number of coaching openings.

With that said, my guess is if he REALLY wants McDaniels, he'll get him...he has the money to outbid anyone.

That makes sense. The small pool of coaching jobs gives us time to go through interviews in phases if we need to. Wouldn’t doubt if we don’t talk to more guys we haven’t heard of after Sunday once that team gets eliminated. A coach who’s more focused on the interview instead of an upcoming game regardless on if they’re on bye will probably be a better process

McCarthy is set to interview with the Giants.  Does everyone else feel that he won't be the candidate given that he's interviewed twice and no offer has been made.  I get it that Tepper may want to interview a few more before making a decision - but as someone who has hired people before- you know when you know.  And if you're totally sold on someone, you don't let them go.

We want McDaniels. McCarthy clearly isn't our guy or we'd have already made an offer and got something in place.

Flame me for my comments about 'speed of the process' but looking at the candidate pool we've requested vs other teams is sad when- as stated above- we supposedly were looking everywhere and casting a wide net. That seems to be window dressing for us just waiting for McDaniels.

Frankly, I'm not into McDaniels as a coach and I'm not into how Tepper has approached this whole process. It feels disingenuous to me-- fire Ron early to get a head start (I think Tepper just got pissed at the losses), say you're casting a wide net (when all roads seem to be pointing to the guy whose name was apparently popping up a year ago), and literally Tepper's interview video having to be removed from the site and replaced with a new one because of his Hurney comments (no clarity about the front office). None of these things are confidence boosters in how Tepper is running this. Mix that with a guy like McDaniels and an organization like the Patriots and I'm really not excited about the direction this team seems to be headed in.

Could very well be the case. If McDaniels was Tepper's target all along it wouldn't shock me if they don't already have an agreement in place and they're just waiting on the Pats' season to end to finalize it and make the announcement.

Keep doing other interviews in the meantime as due diligence and to get some insight on those candidates and their visions as competitive intelligence on whatever teams those guys end up with.

At the end of the day, who really knows?

There was some talk, I think from Albert Breer, that McDaniels might think Charlotte is a good place for his family.

And it's a fair question regarding his wife and kids. If you'd spent your last several years living in Foxboro, would you want to live the next several in Cleveland or Charlotte?

usually coaches don't incite bidding wars and the top offers will probably be similar.  I think a HC's decision comes down to what kind of shape the team is in and what does the Front Office look like.  The Panthers roster on paper is less than Cleveland and I think the FO situation is a dead heat.

People on here are way too harsh on McDaniels. If you listen to him talk he's incredibly smart and great at putting his players in the position to win/making adjustments mid-game. I know he's a re-tread but so was Bill Belicheck, Pete Carrol, Andy Reid, Tony Dungy, and Tom Coughlin. He's not my favorite but there's no reason to absolutely hate the idea like so many on here does.

You’d hate him if he cut Kyle Allen though
