That's because he got a super bowl team handed to him.

Absolutely he did, Jimmy Johnson won 2 before him. I was just asking when was the last time a college coach came to the NFL had success right away and at least won a super bowl?

dont want any college guys

I actually think we're a better fit for a college coach than your average roster thanks to Christian. Shaq, Samuel, and Cam are all hybrid players of sorts as well.

Just curious. Your criticism of McCarthy was that nobody had ever commented  that he made some notable in game decision to win a game. Harbaugh certainly isn't any better in that regard. He excelled having two top coordinators and talent at the time.

Jim Harbaugh took an organization that was in ruins and made them in NFL semi-finalist for three straight years. He had a solid staff. Every coach needs that. He did all that with Colin Kaepernick and Alex Smith. And I’m not knocking either one of those quarterbacks. But they were relatively unheralded when he came in. I was impressed with the way he ran his operation. And I think he was dealing with a very difficult general manager. Not that he’s not a difficult person to deal with, because I’ve heard that too.

Mike McCarthy had Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.

I'd have to write it down to see, but it feels like outside of Washington, every team is looking at the same candidates we are, plus a few others.

We're not reported to be in on Roman, Daboll or Stefanski yet.

I might have missed something, but this is what I've seen so far.

Browns
Daboll
LaFleur* (49er pass game coordinator - not GBs coach)
McCarthy*
McDaniel* (49ers run game coordinator - not Pats OC)
McDaniels
Roman
Saleh
Stefanski

*expected to interview

Giants
Rhule
Richard
McCarthy
Biemeny
McDaniels
Martindale

Panthers
Rhule
McCarthy
Biemeny
McDaniels

Technically Fewell, but yeah...

Lotta people speculated we'd be casting a wide net. Unless there are more to come, so far we have the smallest pool.

I don't even put Rhule on there, he hasn't even accepted an interview and I don't think he will.

The general belief is that Rhule wants the Giants job (he's from New York) or the Cowboys gig (he's lived in Texas for a while, and it's the NFL's big stage).

I don't know that he's as interested in us as we are in him. Maybe we're a fall back. Maybe we're just a bargaining chip.

Flame me for my comments about 'speed of the process' but looking at the candidate pool we've requested vs other teams is sad when- as stated above- we supposedly were looking everywhere and casting a wide net. That seems to be window dressing for us just waiting for McDaniels.

Frankly, I'm not into McDaniels as a coach and I'm not into how Tepper has approached this whole process. It feels disingenuous to me-- fire Ron early to get a head start (I think Tepper just got pissed at the losses), say you're casting a wide net (when all roads seem to be pointing to the guy whose name was apparently popping up a year ago), and literally Tepper's interview video having to be removed from the site and replaced with a new one because of his Hurney comments (no clarity about the front office). None of these things are confidence boosters in how Tepper is running this. Mix that with a guy like McDaniels and an organization like the Patriots and I'm really not excited about the direction this team seems to be headed in.

A small candidate pool would be fairly typical of a team that's got one heavily desired candidate and is only looking at others just in case they don't get their guy.

In that scenario, the prime target would be Josh McDaniels.

Really wish we weren’t putting all our eggs in one basket. I doubt Tepper is that short sighted and that the organization is staying tight lipped as they can be about some candidates but I fear that’s not the case.
