College and the NFL are two different games. The matchups and mistakes that are exploited in college do not exist in the NFL. The NFL is so much faster than college. I think anyone can be successful in the NFL with college experience, but they have to learn different ways to scheme people open, or attack offensive schemes. College and the NFL really are two different games.

True, but no super bowl win. I forgot Jim started with Stanford before moving to the 49ers. The point is, coaches rarely move up to the NFL for a head coach job and are successful right away. They have to get NFL experience in some capacity first. Jim also played in the NFL and his brother was a special teams coach, so he knew the game. Hell even Nick Saban quit the NFL, think about that for a minute!

He's originally from the Canton area in Ohio though. You'd have to imagine going home would have some appeal.

Whether it has enough appeal to be part of a dysfunctional organization with lousy ownership is a big question.

I feel like that’s done by design though. I feel like giving a coach the option for a serious all-in year with Cam and this core or the start of a rebuild with a bunch of contracts we can unload is very enticing

Just curious. Your criticism of McCarthy was that nobody had ever commented  that he made some notable in game decision to win a game. Harbaugh certainly isn't any better in that regard. He excelled having two top coordinators and talent at the time.
