Why would stefanski take the Cleveland job over the Panthers? They literally fire coaches every year... Panthers have a history of giving their coaches time to build their team. At some point, that has to register with a guy like Stefanski... if he is the type of guy who wants to be analytical about his chance to suceed....

Well he would have been the coach if not for Dorsey making Kitchens coach so I would say there is a reason good chance that happens now

McCarthy, Bieniemy, and Rhule are 'culture' coaches.  But we already had a great 'culture' coach in Rivera, and fired him for a reason.  Because he wasn't tactical enough, wasn't strategic enough.  Tepper isn't going to hire another culture coach who isn't even as good at Rivera at that aspect of the job.

It would be like trading Cam for not being accurate enough only to replace him with Josh Allen.

Clearly Tepper wanted someone more tactical, more analytic.

That only really leaves Stefanski and McDaniels as options (unless there's a wildcard out there we're not aware of).  But I'm highly skeptical we would ever hire McDaniels, because if you look into his history, you see that his own players didn't even respect him and openly conspired against him in his first year at the job.  Jim Irsay overlooked this, but he was also probably drunk when he made the call.  I don't think a sober owner can hire a guy who commands that little respect from grown men.

You're kidding...

That could be the holdup. Maybe Jones wants him to stay as OC or something.

But even if Garrett were to agree to that, are you gonna tell your next head coach "Oh sorry, we already picked out one of your most important staff members for ya" :fear:

Maybe some cushy office job?

With Tomlin, the Steelers continued a trend of hiring head coaches in their 30s. The others were Cowher (age 34 in 1992), Chuck Noll (38 in 1969), Bill Austin (38 in 1966), John Michelosen (32 in 1948), Jim Leonard (35 in 1945), Aldo Donelli (33 in 1941), Walt Kiesling (35 in 1939), Johnny "Blood" McNally (33 in 1937), and Joe Bach (34 in 1935)

Youngest coach we've got a confirmed interview with is McDaniels (43).

Stefanski is 37, but he's not fully confirmed yet.
