In what world was Carolina in a fantastic spot when Rivera showed up? Are you kidding me?

Dude, the team he took over was no standard #1 overall selection team in terms of talent.   Fox and Clausen just imploded it.

Carolina was a great spot for a HC.  Not only was it a solid team (just missing a QB) and some pieces but it was armed w/ the #1 overall pick.

Just a great landing spot.  Positioned for a HC to have immediate improvement and success.  Then they can build their team.    Which his what they look for.

lol yeah okay dude. that's just the first I have ever heard anyone even utter those words. 2010 panthers are a great landing spot.

But, but, but........Ron sucks more than any coach ever and he should take that horrible Hurney with him. Worst of the worst, right?! Panthers are bottom dwellers no more. Fire everybody!!! Fire Cam, trade Luke.

Fire the guy who puts the lines on the field. Fire the lunch lady.

it was.  NFL is the Not For Long League.  New HCs might get a 1 or 2 year window to show something these days.

That 2011 team he inherited wasn't much better than the record indicated the year prior.   Foxy/Clausen imploded it.  But it was a well build team in many ways.   Hell, that was probably the best OL Cam Newton had in his entire career.  We were solid where it mattered.

Result of it being a great landing spot? Ron was able to relatively easy stack improving seasons on after the other from when he took over.  Once you do that? You get wiggle room.  Ron did and become our longest tenured HC.

Lot more unknowns and uncertainty for a HC taking the 2020 gig than the when Ron took over the 2011 squad.   More holes on the roster and more questions about front office action.

Your absolutely right and I think Ron and Hurney were probably the worst player evaluation team we ever had. Fox for his many faults put together good rosters. Both in Carolina and in Denver as they have not had any success lately.

Dont think the Giants are going to get a chance to interview Rivera. Deal should be done today and Rivera will be one of the NFL's highest paid coaches.

That would be so a Redskins move. When was the last time they had a successful HC?

Joe Gibbs first go, last time they had back to back winning seasons. 89-92. Overall they are a 500 team history wise at 603-603-28.

Actually seems a perfect spot for Rivera. He will make them 9-7 every 3 years.
