I can't see this happening after Rivera remarked something along the lines about how he felt like he wasn't in charge enough to even pick the guys active on gameday and that he wants a role where if him and the GM disagree on who should be active he can go to the owner to make his case. Sounds like he wasn't feeling Hurney too much and a reunion seems unlikely.

It is possible Ron was referring to a dispute he had with Gettlemen instead of Hurney?

Very possible. Unless some other information comes out there is no way to know which GM ( or both ) that he was talking about when making that statement.
