Marcus Peters new contract and what it means for Bradberry

Baltimore just signed Peters to a 3 year, $42 million contract with $32 million in guarantees. He's been a 1st team all pro (might grab his 2nd this year), 3 time pro bowler and has 27 career interceptions including 7 pick sixes.

Meanwhile Bradberry doesn't have a single pro bowl or all pro to his name. We can't really afford to lose him or we'll end up with a 2016 situation when we let Norman go, but it should establish a bar for the Bradberry contract. Something similar to Shaq's contract seems more than fair now.

This is a weird comparison

Marcus Peters PFF grade - 84 (elite)

James Bradberry PFF grade - 59 (below average)

Marcus Peters has made multiple Pro Bowls, James Bradberry has never sniffed one or even been in consideration

Why are we comparing a corner who performs below average for NFL starters to a multiple time Pro Bowler?

Panther fans are delusional about no player more than James Bradberry;  we should be looking at the contracts of depth corners as a comparison, not elite ones.

Tough to face julio, thomas, and evans 6 times a year.

Bradberry is severely overrated. But he is still a solid CB. I think he’s a great #2. We need to find a #1 CB and move Donte into the slot. Not a fan of Shaq’s contract so I hope we don’t overpay for Bradberry. I would imagine the scheme the new staff implements heavily influences whether Bradberry will be back or not.

Lets hope Bradberry doesn't get a contract like this.  He is not worth 42 million with 32 million guaranteed.

Bradberry is only good against big receivers. He has trouble against small speedy guys. He’s steady but not great. Doesn’t make enough game changing plays. Marcus Peters’ deal is great news for us and every team looking to sign a cornerback in the offseason bc he was clearly one of the top 2 guys this offseason. And he only got a 14m average a year contract. Bradberry should not get no more than 12m and that’s us being way too kind

Bradberry or go after Byron Jones, still think cb could be the pick in the first or second depending on fa and how the draft falls

Jimmy Smith is who I really want. Especially if we get Greg Roman, I think Jimmy Smith comes here. Byron Jones is another option. I’m not paying Bradberry more than 12m and I still think that’s a lot for a guy like Bradberry who doesn’t make enough game changing plays. If we don’t draft a QB, I would consider trading down and adding more picks. We could then draft a corner like Fulton, Diggs or my favorite cb CJ Henderson. He just need to add some more weight
