You might not like it.

The Panthers are off and running on their search, and they've interviewed former Packers coach Mike McCarthy not once, but two times. From what it sounds like, he did very well. The team also intends to interview Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and Baylor coach Matt Rhule, while Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy should also get a look among others. Worth noting: GM Marty Hurney is heavily involved in the interview process, indicating he's safe, though his title potentially could change with a new personnel hire.

So depressing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Mike McCarthey from 2009-2016 all winning seasons. ALL WINNING SEASONS. I will gladly take 7 straight years of winning seasons and 5 years of playoffs and one super bowl. Unless you guys want to have three years of rebuilding he is our best option. My opinion.

Seems like the only down years was when Rodgers was down and he still managed to keep them .500.

When your guys go down and you can still find wins is big

Word was that the next coach is going to have input on the new front office hire.

But now you're going to let the same guy who gave us Ron Rivera and John Fox have a say in who the next head coach is?

Seriously gotta wonder what in the hell Tepper is thinking.

If we want to be a team with an offensive identity .. an offense first team .. who better to hire than Mike McCarthy .. not understanding the negativity towards a McCarthy hire.

McCarthy is an offensive guru.

this guy sucks ass. may as well have kept rivera for the remainder of his contract

I don't get this.

Rivera is all defense. A Rivera team will be a defensive first team.

McCarthy is an offensive guru. A McCarthy team will be an offensive first team.

Polar opposites. They are both old school guys, that's the similarity.

both of their skillsets gradually became mediocre and figured out if you will. mccarthy is arguable worse because he had aaron fuging rodgers as QB and they still declined. now that they have a new HC packers are kicking ass on offense again even if Rodgers isnt what he used to be.

And there is something to be said about the wisdom of a second time around.  I get better at my job every time I switch locations/settings because you learn from the previous experiences---I think coaching is the same way.  I am guessing he will want a young QB to mold---I am not sure he would be comfortable with Newton---just a hunch, though.

Even the 1 Super Bowl he won wasn't that impressive

They went 10-6 that year, and squeaked by in the wildcard round (won 3 out of their 4 playoff games by less than a touchdown).  They were also the beneficiaries of some very fortuitous calls in the Super Bowl.

For all the talk of being an offensive guru, the 2010 Packers were about average on offense.  It was their best in the league defense run by Dom Capers that won them that Superbowl (despite having Aaron Rodgers).

This guy is the epitome of mediocrity.

Hurney has made some bad decisions in the past. However, he did address some of our issues this past year. Everybody on this site (self included) was wanting a pass rush. He drafted Brian Burns and signed Bruce Irvin. We produced a pass rush that has been at the top of the league. We wanted a Left Tackle. He signed Greg Little. Yes, Little looked rough, but wasn't let's give up on second year bad either. Hurney can't predict injuries. Hurney has been a middle of the pack GM. I have been disappointed with many of his decisions...but he's not why we sucked. Our former head coach decided that rookies shouldn't start early. Because of his fan boy for veterans', he set us back. Hurney does bring value to this organization, especially, with a new owner whose trying to get a feel for how processes work.
