One other note: Albert Breer has said that the Redskins are further along in their head coaching search than people know and he thinks they might be done quickly.

On the flipside, the belief among a lot of NFL people is that David Tepper will take his time, be thorough and check out multiple optione before making a decision.

(that'll probably piss some people off if it happens)

Who are they said to be hiring? That Chiefs guy?

The Marrone firing might turn out to be bad news for Greg Roman fans if Dave Caldwell is kept.

I'm seeing speculation that Dave Caldwell could go hard after Greg Roman for their next head coach. Apparently he was under consideration there before (not sure if he interviewed).

Roman and Caldwell were also college teammates at John Carroll, and for longer than Caldwell and McDaniels were.

MARVIN LEWISC, UNSIGNED FREE AGENT

SiriusXM NFL Radio's Alex Marvez reports Marvin Lewis is "serious contender" for the Redskins head-coaching job.

Lewis spent this season in advisory role at Arizona State. He's said he doesn't want to return to the NFL, but there's rumblings he's already interviewed for the Redskins job. Lewis had a winning record during his 16-year tenure with the Bengals and would be a safe hire for a team that hasn't made the playoffs since 2015. Hiring Lewis would suggest the Redskins are in win-now mode despite having one of the worst rosters in the league

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Redskins have interest in Ron Rivera for their head-coaching job.

Rivera also has interest from teams that have yet to fire their coaches. He expects to be hired early in the coaching cycle, potentially as soon as Black Monday. Rivera is coming off two straight losing seasons but has a career .546 winning percentage. He's one of the top retreads available this offseason.
