Mentioned it recently but a lot of NFL analysts think there'll be fewer firings this year than there have been in past seasons.

Everybody believes Jason Garrett is out. Most people believe Pat Shurmur is gonr too. But others who were believed to be gone are now being rumored to stay. Even Freddie Kitchens might actually wind up keeping his job.

Only firings I think happen are Giants and Cowboys.

Its going to be relatively quiet.  Quinn was one of the only other ones who's seat was hot and theyve announced he's returning.

Zimmer is so much more a better HC than Rivera. Minnesota’s offenses with Zimmer have always been good, not great but good.

Lol ok and Zimmer has only two division titles and no nfc championships. There goes that word good but not great. Sounds alot like some of these other people on the huddle that are just ok for another good coach not great. Let's hear another one of those great prophecies u have.

Cleveland will announce their annual coaching vacancy.  Dallas will part with Garrett with remorse for not doing it sooner.  Detroit may be discarding a coach.  Do not see how Marrone in Jax dodges the bullet as well.

Detroit has already said they're keeping Matt Patricia but could conceivably fire some assistants.

Belief is trending that Cleveland will stay with Freddie Kitchens for another year, though some think John Dorsey will go after his old colleague Mike McCarthy.

Marrone is believed to be safe because he had it was so good relationship with  owner Shad Khan's son Tony who's gaining more power in the organization.

In addition to those, the Broncos and the Chargers aren't expected to fire their head coaches, though the Chargers might shake up the coaching staff (already fired OC Ken Whisenhunt).

There is reported to be growing discontent in Denver with regard to how ineffective John Elway has been since the Super Bowl.

Patricia and Marrone are surprising to me---I saw enough to fire both.

Short memories in Denver.  I think Elway did a good job getting Manning in for 4 years (I think) and I think he has a QB of the future in place.  It has not been that long since they won a super bowl.  If Elway stays, Fangio goes.

I meant to mention the Giants as well--and I speculated that the Chargers will cut ties.

General belief right now is that both Elway and Fangio stay, but anything can happen. People are getting tired of Elway, despite the fact that he's a virtual god in Denver.

Most of the people I've read talking about the Giants believe Pat Shurmur is gone. It's a lot more tricky when it comes to Dave Gettleman though. Most seem to believe he'll stay but again, nobody knows for sure.

I'm still hoping to see Gettleman reunite with Rivera just so I can watch how that plays out.

One other note: Albert Breer has said that the Redskins are further along in their head coaching search than people know and he thinks they might be done quickly.

On the flipside, the belief among a lot of NFL people is that David Tepper will take his time, be thorough and check out multiple optione before making a decision.

(that'll probably piss some people off if it happens)

Surprise fire is going to be Zimmer from Minnesota. Vikings will get put out first rd, and he will be gone. He is like a Rivera clone good defense and terrible offense. Also don't understand he hype for Stefanski, he will not get a HC job.

Zimmer doesn't actually have to be fired. His contract is up. The Vikes would just have to do like the Panthers did John Fox and not renew him.

(the fact that they've let it get this far might say something)

Doug Marrone is out in Jacksonville...

Being reported by Dianna Russini.

Most recent speculation was that both he and Dave Caldwell would stay. Now it might just be Caldwell.

Worth noting that Caldwell and Josh McDaniels were college teammates for a season at John Carroll university, but if McDaniels wants to take a more familiar face with him (like Nick Caserio or Dave Ziegler) Jacksonville might not offer that opportunity.

NFCE not named Doug Pederson. I honestly think Quinn, Gase, and Patricia should all be out though too. Quinn's barely hanging on a thread, Gase is a megalomaniac coke head, and Patricia has a record worse than Jim Caldwell.

Gase, Quinn and Patricia have both been told they're safe for next year.
