So Who Gets Fired Black Monday?

In all seriousness though I don’t see us doing a lot on Black Monday. Probably not even the coaches. Tepper will wait until he brings in his new GM and coach, he’ll let that coach decided who goes(well that’s hoping he runs it like a proper owner) which I’m imagining is 95% of the staff. It’s going to be very interesting listening to his and hurneys post season presser.

To all you beat writers out there; Grill Hurney on why his roster sucked ass this year, and don’t let him use IR as an excuse. Really drill down into why the depth was so bad and Hurney never made moves to fill depth with strong players in the spots that were injured.

Right.  It is as if we concede if a few injuries occur.

The thing about Hurney that bothers me is the moves he makes when he gets desperate.  He trades away a first rounder for Everette Brown, for example. Same thing with Otah.  According to the Rams and a post-draft comment by Marty Hurney, he TRIED to give up a first rounder the following year to move up to grab Clausen.   He later traded up in the third round for Armanti Edwards, projected by most to be a seventh rounder.  Indy later admitted to faking interest in Edwards.  Hurney's trade up leapfrogged the Colts.  I bet they laughed their asses off.

This year, Marty tried to move back into the first round for Little.  imagine if that had gone down.  Paradis--He is a loose cannon with no plan.

Teams don't necessarily fire assistants on Black Monday. They tend to just kind of hang around until the next coach is chosen and then that coach has the option to keep them if they want +but generally doesn't).

Fewell is technically still the secondary coach. He just happens to have head coaching duties. No need to necessarily "fire" him either.

As to Marty, the general belief is that he's around at least until the draft though possibly in a reduced role. After that, who can say?

The issue is, you know there’s going to be a lot of free agent action before the draft. Who’s going to handle that, Hurney? This is why teppers supposed logic on this subject doesn’t make sense if he wants Hurney to be there just to do the draft.

Thoughts?

If the new front office hire is made soon after the head coach is put in place, then I think it will be them.

It's definitely possible that Tepper goes for a full blown GM like Caserio or Colbert after April. But I'd say it's also possible that the new front office guy just slides into the GM role at that time.

Either way, I just have a hard time buying that Marty remains fully in charge after April. And it's very possible that his role might be reduced even before that.

Of course, that's all contingent on Marty accepting such a reduction. If he doesn't want to, he could always resign.

I think new coach will have a big say who to bring in.  Hurney will be just doing contracts.  Tepper said he does not want to lose Hurney and does not think he’s a bad manager... means he’s not good either.  Hurney is well liked and respected by players around the league aka smooth negotiations.

Mentioned it recently but a lot of NFL analysts think there'll be fewer firings this year than there have been in past seasons.

Everybody believes Jason Garrett is out. Most people believe Pat Shurmur is gonr too. But others who were believed to be gone are now being rumored to stay. Even Freddie Kitchens might actually wind up keeping his job.

Surprise fire is going to be Zimmer from Minnesota. Vikings will get put out first rd, and he will be gone. He is like a Rivera clone good defense and terrible offense. Also don't understand he hype for Stefanski, he will not get a HC job.

Zimmer is so much more a better HC than Rivera. Minnesota’s offenses with Zimmer have always been good, not great but good.
