Getting this thread back on track...Okudah looked really good outside of the 2-point play tonight.  The possibility of him and Bradberry back there at least shores up the secondary some.  Thoughts?

If we weren't depleted in the trenches I wouldn't mind it.

Given our OL/DL situations and the massive question mark at QB, anything outside of those positions would feel like a luxury pick IMO.

True, but you can't predict how the board will fall.  You have to look at the top guy at every position with a top 10 pick.  I'm wanting OL too, but snagging the top CB in the draft isn't a bad consolation.  Jackson was so bad on the outside this year, I feel he's best suited to man up on the slot guy.  If we can seal off the sidelines and filter everything to the middle, I think our average safeties can step up their pay a notch.

If somehow it works out that there's no DL/OL or QB worth the pick, I'm all for trying to trade down.

Wirfs should be there, but not sure about a QB.  The Dolphins and Chargers are very much in the market, but it's not a given they go the QB route.  Who knows what the Redskins will do, but we should get a shot either at Brown or the next DE after Young.

Yeah I was wondering about Okudah as well.. if we sign Bradberry put Jackson in the slot and add Okudah in the draft .. That's not a bad Secondary.

The targeting call was very, very weak.  I never said roughing the kicker was the wrong call, I said it was pointless.  The ball had already been kicked and the guy didn't even try to stop.

There was nothing weak about that call. The OSU defender lowered his head, thereby leading with his helmet and striking Lawrence’s head with the crown of his own helmet. You CANNOT do that anymore. Hence the penalty. If the OSU player made the same hit with his head up, the targeting call is not made.

A lot of people saying that LSU is going to blow Clemson out, but I think it will be closer than most think.

Venables has two weeks to watch all the tape of LSU he can and to scheme the defense accordingly.  It's up to the players to execute, but Clemson shouldn't be overlooked.

If I was LSU I would have wanted OSU to win last night.

It's hard to count Clemson out because they have such a tremendous recent history in the CFB playoffs. I don't think Clemson should be favored, obviously, but LSU hasn't faced a QB like Lawrence all year long.

One thing I am curious to see is if Clemson can score with LSU. The Tigers have faced four top 20 scoring defenses in college football so far(Clemson is #1) and have averaged 37 points per game in those four matchups. LSU is also the #1 scoring offense in college football(Clemson is #4, FWIW).

I'm excited about this match up.

So that begs the question of how many DL/OL/QBs are worth say the 8th pick.  I'm thinking Burrow, Tua (if healthy), Young, Brown, Thomas?  We will be lucky if one of those is at pick 8.

The problem with a lot of the people on this forum is they decide on a position, say OL, and they just want the next guy on the list and that isn't how teams work.  At 8 we are going to pick a guy with a top 10 grade (or most teams do) not some guy who should go 19.

I definitely don't mind trading down depending on how the board looks, but I would also consider a CB or Safety if I felt like there was a top 10 talent there.
