To be fair, Jeff Ireland was a horrible GM when he was with the Dolphins.

One of the rare times a GM got a second chance and changed his imagine

To be fair to Ireland, I think the Dolphins organization has been pretty terrible overall for the last several years. Stephen Ross is not exactly a world class owner.

His work with the Saints has been stellar.

I am not sure AB has a "chilled out" mode anymore. TBH, he seems to have a screw loose of some sort. Maybe some CTE issues, who knows?

CTE was my thought, but as you know, it could be a lot of things.  There are many forms of depression, bipolar disorders, trauma-related delayed reactions, etc. that are often triggered during early adulthood.  CTE (as little as we know about it) seems to have the rep of showing signs during the midlife---but we know little about it.   Tomlin was either doing a good job with him or his demeanor changed rather dramatically-it seems from the outside looking in.  I hate to guess because I am not trained to do so, but I teach leaders that have to be familiar with these kinds of issues.

The Saints are doing everything in their power to BUY a ring this year.  I get it, Brees is getting older and his window is about shut. Sean Payton would lure Emmit Smith, Jerry Rice and Lawrence Taylor out of retirement if he thought it would get them over the hump this year!

So if the Saints fall short of the winning the Super Bowl, it will make it that much sweeter.  They are throwing everything and the kitchen sink into their run this year.

if they don't win there will be litigation.

Antonio Brown probably just isn't that smart and that's his 'mental issue.'  This PC culture we live in nowadays wants to give everyone a condition.  He's had academic problems throughout his life.

Dude is as bipolar as I have ever seen. Way too many manic episodes to just dismiss it. Someone in my family is bi-polar and didn’t start showing signs of it until they hit 14. It’s not even a PC thing. Some people’s brains just fail them after a few years just like a liver, pancreas, heart, etc.

Honestly, he does seem a little bipolar. That is probably a decent speculative take.

Being dumb and being all over the map emotionally are two completely different things. That's an extremely reductive take.
