Fewell, I would love for Cam to stay, Not sure why he would be leaving.

To be fair, I could see this owner cutting ties with Newton.

I wouldn’t totally agree with it, based on film study.

But, yes. There’s a health component to this: how degraded is the shoulder? How much of a recurring issue will it become? I don’t think he’s “fine china”.

He had two unfortunate injuries (2016, 2019) each of which were later re-injured.

Fair to say none of these injuries happened while he was scrambling or hit on designed runs.

My preference would be to have him back. On the same deal (which he may protest, and he has every right to do so), or a reasonable, market-appropriate extension. I’d like to find out how his health holds up with him actually here in Charlotte v elsewhere in 2020.

Either choice will pose a risk.

I don’t discount Zack’s perspective on this. His org has full press access—they also have a pretty unique relationship with the Panthers (personal observation). I’m sure there’s some pretty reliable information coming out their reporting.

Perry is coaching out the string. I don’t think he has a whole lot of insight. More than us? OK, sure. I don’t think that says a whole lot.

I am 100% certain he won’t be back next year. So, no, I don’t think he’s been briefed on any big plans for 2020.

Yes of course.

Pretty darn impressive!

On the subject of "health"....the two main areas are physical and mental.  I've not seen it reported anywhere but is there any discussion amongst the credentialed press as it relates to the latter?

In what fashion do you see Tepper doing so?

Seems like the only 2 options would be to cut Cam, or trade him.

In your opinion what are the % chances of an outright cut?

And % chances of a trade?  If traded what would fair compensation be and who would be willing to offer it?

Cheers.

Anyone running a fan org associated with the Panthers better hope Cam can return. He's the prevailing reason they have any clout to begin with. What was the Panthers fan culture before other than opposing fanbases taking over our stadium on the regular?

Unless a top QB prospect falls in our lap in the draft or a franchise QB somehow becomes available in FA, I think you're going to have a tough time drumming up much interest in the roaring riot or pretty much anything else because 2020 will be a rerun of 2019 and 2010.

Are you really doing this again? What’s your point?

You don't actually think I'm attacking you do you? We're speaking harsh truths about a number of things right now. Those harsh realities don't just involve Cam Newton.

That we suck and we are the worst in not only the division but the conference and possibly all of the NFL when we are less than 5 years removed from nearly going undefeated?

It's easy to talk about moving on from your franchise quarterback. Not so easy making it through that process that is almost always anything but a quick turnaround for the rest of the NFL unless you've got a top pick in your back pocket. Even then it's not a guarantee.

Oh and btw that's worst in the league with a running back many were arguing was the MVP of the league at one point.

But yeah the Roaring Riot will just keep chugging along with the likes of Kyle Allen and Will Grier lobbing interceptions by the dozen :eyeroll:

I’m sorry, are you suggesting that I personally don’t want Cam back or that I don’t realize the impact that Cam has on this fanbase and our group?

The first part no of course not. We've been over that.

The second part is where I think you are perhaps unintentionally glossing over just how bad things can and will get. Other bad teams in the league may be able to keep fans coming back because of decades built up establishing generations of fans. The Panthers do not have that luxury as a young franchise that just notched the 25 year mark.

I am hoping that we can both agree if Cam is indeed walking off into the sunset we are in all likelihood going to have to make some major moves that may involve other popular Panthers names to acquire a quarterback capable of leading this team back to prominence.
