Again

Id shockingly be fine with him.  As long as he puts the right staff around him.  And we get a competent GM and not let Marty handle any decisions (Draft, FA, etc)

Coaching retreads aren't always a bad thing.  Bill Bellicheck was one, Andy Reid (who's situation was Very Very similar to Mike's) was one.

There are a few good reads out there (1 linked in this thread) on McCarthy.  Showing how he's prepping to come bsck into the league.  Showing how he's set back while he's been unemployed to study the way the NFL is going studying the Analytics etc and admitting he needs to improve in that are.

Really he wouldn't be a bad hire, if we get a good GM and DC to pair with him.

I don’t think he’d be a bad hire either not amazing but not bad. BUT BB and Andy Reid have always been known as somewhat geniuses at their profession. Andy especially as a offensive guru even before KC. I don’t think mike has ever been known to be that.

Mike was as well before the downfall of his last few seasons.

Which from what I understand mostly had to do with conflicting views with Aaron Rodgers.

no, they ran the exact same plays over and over for years.   it was talked about ad nauseam the final year he coached.  nobody had to game plan for their offense because he never changed anything.  that was his downfall and why aaron had had it with him.  he is the rivera of offense

I don’t really remember that being said about him. But I’ll take your word for it. Andy has was always innovative with different qbs. From McNabb to Vick to Smith to Mahommes. So I think my point still stands a bit. I wouldn’t be upset with Mike but I think dropping names like Reid and BB is a bit disingenuous. I can understand having that hope though. We need it badly for this franchise.

fuging never ever.

The only thing he had going for him were two HoF qbs at the helm during his tenure.   Both of which were masters of improv.

If Cam comes back, he certainly fits that model as well. At least the improv part.

He was the OC in New Orleans(2000-2004) and San Francisco(2005) prior to this stint at Green Bay. He came in with Haslett and the offensive performance improved dramatically while he was there. It also dropped off substantially when he left in 2005. We was hired by first year coach Mike Nolan in San Francisco and took an atrocious offense in SF to being.....just as atrocious in his one season. The offense was putrid before and after he left. In Green Bay he inherited a high caliber offense and largely maintained it until the last few seasons of his career. The offense is still largely in the slump that it was at the end of his career there.

Makes sense. I guess with 9/13 winning seasons and a superb owl, you figure they did change things somewhat.

i'd like to see him in cleveland.  blue collar guy, blue collar town.  i think he could get at least bring stability there.  not so sure about here, but if he's the guy i'll try and get behind it.
