As long as Carolina doesn't have it's next regime in place, the QB talk is pure speculation at this point. 

 

Traditionally, when a new regime starts, they don't tend to keep the previous regimes, anything. This includes QB. (Feelings aside whether you love Cam or not.)

 

I will be the first to admit that Cam is a special player and the possibility is there for the new head Coach to say he wants to build around Cam. It is there. But the other side of that coin that is just as possible is that he will not want to touch Cam with a ten foot pole and decide that the best course of action is shipping out Cam to a new club for a pick or player, and start out fresh with a QB he chooses. (which would not bother me a bit.)

These are the only two outcomes that have a high chance of happening. What I would have liked, besides the firing of Rivera, is the removal of Marty Hurney. Unfortunately he's still in this franchise and he will be until the remainder of the league year. So meaning we will see another Hurney draft. This could in fact delay the rebuilding process, OR make it quicker. 

 

I will give Tepper the benefit of the doubt that he is a smart man and his hand in the football side of the organization is going to be for the betterment of it. 

 

I've been on the side of Change for the past couple of years and my body is ready to endure seasons in which we will not see the playoffs right away. We've currently been subject to them with Rivera. As long as every piece is in place and the plan is set in motion to move forward (with or without Cam), I am all for it. 

 

If this organization moves on from Cam, that's fine. As long as the plan works out in the end. This goes as well if they decide to keep him and build around his remaining prime years. 

I think tepper has already made up his mind about the whole Cam thing, the hiring of the next head coach will be a huge indicator where his loyalties lie.

I think the real question is what QB available via free agency or the draft is better than a healthy Cam Newton? Because if we do decide to keep him, that means he’s healthy and ready to go.

Too many unknowns with Cam. If he’s healthy next year great, how many games does he play before he’s hurt again? Does Cam really want to be in Charlotte? Will he play without an extension? 
 

One thing we do know about our qb position is that neither Allen or Grier is the answer going into 2020.

I pretty much agree with Ivan.  I want Cam to be here, but I understand the dynamics.  It is possible Tepper has made a decision, but it is just as likely (maybe even moreso) that the person who is ultimately going to make that call is not even on the payroll yet.

I also understand that if the new regime is hired with the mission to build a consistent winner and not necessarily worry about wins and losses for 3 years, it may be best for Cam to not be a part of that.  That will be a slow process.  I've seen a lot of posts on this board saying that if Cam is not on the roster, the Panthers have no chance to win in 2020.  Honestly, that could be the plan or better put, the price the organization is willing to pay for consistent success.

If Cam is not around, the long-term starter is not on the payroll, yet, either.

I don't think it's a matter of better or worse in the general sense.  I think it depends on who we hire as a coach and what they want out of the QB position.  If we hire Roman, then a healthy Cam would be the best fit since he would fit Roman's offense.  However, if he hire someone like McDaniels whose offense needs more of a precise passer, then we'd likely look elsewhere, even if Cam is healthy.  

So, it all depends on what the new coach/OC needs to make their offense run.  Cam is a great adlibber, he can turn any play into a big play.  But he's not a structured, fit in the box, type of QB that works best staying within the structure of the offense.

What new head coach comes to a team with a proven franchise-level (former league MVP) QB and decides he wants to bring in his own guy? When did this happen? You guys keep saying it like it's common place, but for the life of me I can't remember one time a veteran franchise QB was released by a new HC unless he was on the way out anyway. 

Franchise QBs are too hard to come by to take a gamble with a rookie. No other team is gonna trade or release their franchise QB for you to pick up, so it's either draft a new one or pick up a vet journeyman to fill in. That ish is INSANE! Cam is the Panthers QB until he proves he can't stay healthy anymore. Then and only then will he be released. It makes NO sense to take any other approach. JEEZZUUSS!!!

The unknowns are just too many to really have an idea what the move is going to be. There is another front office position(at least) to be filled and obviously a head coach to add. I think once those moves happen, we might start to get an indication of what direction the franchise is headed. It could be a complete tear down and rebuild(hyper painful for fans), a simple retooling(more likely that Cam is a part of this plan) or anywhere in between. 

We may as well ride out this last tank of a game and then eagerly watch the moves that come. I'd love to start seeing candidates interviewed ASAP.

yes, he was MVP in what will be a half-decade earlier.  Matt Ryan was the MVP the following year.  What he has done is not important when you consider his last 2 years.  Anyone would be concerned.  How many seasons are we going to waste until Cam proves he can't stay healthy anymore?  I think they know something about Cam that we do not. 

If I am a coach and I have a system that Cam does not fit, I am not sticking with the player because he was awesome in 2015.  I might keep him for 2020 because of the contract if nobody takes him in a trade, but I would build the OL and DL for a season.  I am not signing him to a long-term deal, however.
