If Tepper is true to his word about Hurney

Hurney is coming off one of his worst drafts of his career and Tepper calls him a great evaluator of talent. If Tepper isn't blowing smoke up our ass, he's no better than JR and this franchise is doomed for another 20 some years of mediocrity.

I have it on good authority that Marty is nervous about full Job security. He will be with the Panthers but come 2021 its gonna be a different story with who Make personnel choices.

I'm telling you after this draft Marty will not have as much as a say in the future and that is because Tepper's people that he wants have contractual obligations.

So he’s horrible and you know he’s horrible but you let him run another draft?

Yeah... that’s fugging brilliant.

The reaction around the league was just pure disbelief.  It was surreal.

Remember that asshole you hated in high school?  And you saw him have a car accident where he didn’t get hurt but it totaled his nice car that his asshole parents bought him?

Yeah, that was how the rest of the league felt when Uncle Jer fired Dave and re-hired Cousin Marty.

Going to let things play out, see how Tepper sets up his FO and what role Hurney has in it. I have to believe that Tepper didn’t spend over two billion dollars to sit back and watch a schick show.

Not about money for an owner.

Even the worst teams in the league are profitable.

So its not about money... its about the desire to be a winner and the ability to make choices that achieve that goal.

Does Tepper have that ability? That remains to be seen, but early returns are definitely not promising.

i haven't figured out yet why so many people are being so dumb about hurney...like, read between the lines. he's being kept on in a glorified consultant role, folks

he's presided over the current draft cycle, and we're in draft "midseason" so there's no point in firing him just to say you fired him

and he's an institutional link to the team's history, with an expansive array of local connections, making him useful for an owner who's new to the organization and the city

and he's old as dirt, so he can be eased out of real power gracefully without being made to put his things in a box and get walked out by security

and, oh yeah, contracts being contracts, and the GM calendar not being the coaching calendar, long-term GM prospects are tied up right now anyway

hurney is being kept on as a transitional figure, providing stability and institutional continuity, while the GM search/acquisition process grinds into motion. that's literally it.

so listen - if you're upset right now about tepper "keeping hurney on as GM" please put your hand up

...now pull that hand down and slap yourself with it. you're being dumb. hurney's not going to be the GM.

I wish the 4k fans that will show up next week, could at least get a fire Hurney chant going.

If Tepper is truely the man of his word and listens to the fsns, he'll look past whatever naked pics Hurney is blackmailing him with and can his azz

@Gesualdo That’s the problem, Hurney should be nowhere near the draft. Hurney shouldn’t be near the team.

27-53* that is the combined record Hurney has in the past 5 years when he built the roster and drafted.(I do not count 2017 because Gettleman drafted and built that years entire roster. Hurney just came in and coasted on it.)

As was mentioned yesterday by stbugs.

“For posterity sake and also giving Ron full 2019 credit/giving GM's credit for their off-seasons:

Ron and Gettleman (5 seasons): 51-28-1

Ron and Hurney (4 seasons): 25-39”

The common denominator of this teams failure is obvious. Marty Hurney.

Look at this year’s draft. He overvalued players he could have easily gotten for less, how many of them are going to be starting next year?

4/5 years we made the playoffs with a Gettleman built team. 0/5 years has a Hurney built team even had a winning record.

He promised a fixed OL this year? What do we get? The shittiest OL in a long fuging time.

The point is not Marty Hurney being GM, the point is he has no place building a roster or drafting anyone. He has no place being in any roll on this team.
