CMC reception record

We're really only further driving his value up, and that's on top of us trying to force feed the whole offense through him. All we've done is shown the rest of the NFL we can't win without CMC having a career day despite having a talented receiver like DJ Moore.

Truthfully if I'm the Panthers next year I would be willing to listen to trade offers for pretty much any player at this point if I'm serious about fixing this shitshow. Our defense could very well be a mess for years, but we need to turn this offense around quickly or we may end up in the cellar for awhile. We can't begin that process without the QB. Clearly Allen isn't the answer. Grier isn't ready, and he's even younger than Kyle. If you're a Panthers fan don't get too attached to any of these players. There could be some big roster changes in store for 2020.

if you think every player is someone you want to listen to trade offers for, shouldn't you *want* CMC's value to go up?

There is his value around the league in a trade scenario, and then there is his value to us when it comes time to extend him. You think these record breaking seasons where we are trying to make him our whole offense are going to get us a hometown discount?

He just hates CMC for some reason...

I hate him so much that I wanted us to draft him, and was thrilled when we did? Do you ever get tired of being wrong about everything?

@TheRed You don’t punish a player that as worked as hard as CMC this season to lower his value come contract time. That would truly be a shame for the player and it isn’t his fault our defense is the worst I’ve ever seen a Panthers defense be.

There comes a point when you say “we are a 5 win team, out of the playoffs and have nothing to play for. But we have a player who has worked as hard as anyone in the league and can become the 3rd player ever to reach this milestone. So let’s all do what we can to help him get there”

It should absolutely be celebrated. Barry Sanders only ever won a single career playoff game and is (rightly) considered a legend. The Panthers May be miserable but at least CMC can cement this season as one of the greatest ever.

If you really are worried about not resigning him, try pissing him off and denying him of reaching that goal. See how likely he is to return after you’ve taken that away from him.

I'm sure if you asked him he would trade that record and every record like it for a playoff berth. Competing in the postseason is the goal for every player who prepares all offseason.

Chasing records is a consolation prize of sorts if your team is eliminated and you're at least still competitive. We've been getting our asses kicked in all phases by bottom tier teams. There is really nothing that can polish this turd that has been the Panthers 2019 season.

Well yeah, obviously he would. But we aren’t making the playoffs, are we?

So you think he’s just cool sitting this last game out and not getting this record?

“Hey CMC, I know you are close to putting your name up there with Marshall Faulk but you can’t polish turd. So to help us out come contract time, we are gonna sit you next week. You can stay healthy, get an early start to your offseason, miss out on the record and maybe make less money as a result. Cool?”

come on dude...

I’m pretty sure CMC doesn’t give two f’s about the record. He would give back every catch, every yard for wins. If I was him I’d be looking for a way out of Charlotte.

I’m pretty sure every professional athlete wants to set records and make a legacy. I’m pretty sure every athlete grows up thinking “I want to be the best ever” as a kid.

I 100% believe CMC would trade the record for a playoff birth. I also 100% believe this record means A LOT to him. As it should.

People still talk about Steve Smith’s triple crown season. People still talk about Ladainian Tomlinson’s TD record. If you don’t think they take immense pride in those numbers then you are out of your mind.

Lol it’s funny because Red was definitely never saying that poo about Cam in his appreciation threads back when he was setting records during losing seasons.  I’d wager just the opposite actually.

I love Cam, CMC, and most importantly the Panthers... but damn, I also like seeing my guys create a legacy for themselves, especially when they’re players like Cam and CMC who are really good dudes that put in the work and leave it all out on the field.

Exactly. I don’t see him saying “we didn’t win the super bowl so Cam’s MVP season is pointless”

No, Cams MVP season was my second favorite season for the Panthers ever. It was so much fun watching Cam flip into the end zone. Embarrassing defenses. That comeback win against the Seahawks was amongst my favorite games ever

Yes, we fell short. But that doesn’t make Cams season somehow not special. Same as this year. We suck. CMC and DJ Moore are all we really have on offense. Which in some way makes this record even more impressive. Teams know to just focus all of their attention on CMC and he’s still getting 170 yards on them

Cam couldn't even wear a fugging towel on his head or celebrate a touchdown without his character being questioned.

You really think it would be going over well if half the huddle was cheering for him to break records while our team is getting the doors blown off each week?

I've already seen the real you bud, we know how you really feel about Newton. Go back to lurking.
