Raiders moving on from Carr

Raleigh PF

Carr with CMC and DJ would be pretty good. It would have to be Cam and 3rd or later for Carr and their 1st. I would hate to see Cam go, but a first round pick and vet QB might be tempting... We could use that pick to trade up and get Burrow/Tua or just beef up our trenches for a QB next year. Again I hate to see Cam go, but if our new staff wants to move on from him, this isn’t a terrible option...

Carr AND the 17th pick? I would have them do Carr and their 1st and 2nd pick. Or at least their 3rd.

Then anyone would have to consider that.

Carr for me is another Kirk Cousins type of guy, does a lot of good things when it doesn’t count, can’t push the ball when it counts.

60% Cam is 2 times as good as 100% Carr but we do have a ton of rebuilding to do. It’s pie in the sky thinking for us to believe better than 8-8 seasons the next 2 years while a lot of players get recycled.

with 2 first round picks we could take a bite out of the offensive line maybe or get Oline and a corner or DT for example.

Why can't we keep "upside"? Why do all these media scenarios have somebody else getting stronger and the Panthers getting weaker? Do you get it now?

Youre supposed to lose. You're not supposed to have any great players. You're not old enough to get that call. F' that! F' JV football!!! F' them!!!

About Cam's health:

It may not matter that much.  He is a mobile, running QB who will be 31.  Few reach 30, and only a few of those reach 35 with any degree of success.  When was the last time a mobile, running QB won a Super Bowl?  (A: Never).  Randall Cunningham, Steve Young, John Elway, and Mark Brunell all were running QBs to a degree at one time, but they evolved so that they could be successful in their mid thirties.  Young and Elway won rings, but not as running qbs--and I would argue that their skills as a pocket passing QB were much better than Cam's are now.  Cunningham actually sat out a year and went to Minnesota where he had a brief career reboot--this time, as a pocket passer for the most part.  He threw a pretty ball.

So what are you asking for if you want a healthy Cam Newton?  A qb who has not developed into the pocket passers described above.  A QB who does not read defenses as well as the group just mentioned, and a QB that has taken more hits than any other QB in league history.  And some here want to lock him down for the next five or six years.

I do not see the smarts behind that.  Your loyalty is admirable, but the window (odds for success) is closing, not opening.

A bit dated, but this article in BR (2012) explains it fairly well. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1341347-why-mobile-qbs-only-have-a-short-window-to-achieve-nfl-greatness

One of the harder positions to fill in professional sports. Cam has transitioned into a pocket passer and before going out last year had the best completion percentage of his career.

Being hasty and jumping into the abyss of the unknown vs the known would not be wise either. Not if you're trying to win in the NFL.

Loaded question that means different things to different people.

Staubach, Bradshaw, Young, Elway, Rodgers could all be considered for the list.

Unless we are using a very specific definition to only talk about like.  6 QBs ever.  Which at that point makes it a funky loaded question.  And I am sure I can make a ton of lists for every QB that hasn't won a superbowl, make it specific enough, and say thats a reason they will never win.
