This feels like when Fox was going out and we had Pickles.

worst really. We had a better overall team behind the quarterback. There was Jonathan Stewart, DeAngelo and Goodson, Steve Smith and Jordan Gross among others.

we have true turd for a team on defense right now and a 50/50 Oline. Promising is CMac, Olsen, and DJ. That’s about it.

Olsen?

On a scale of Brian St. Pierre to Jimmy Clausen, I'm expecting a solid Tony Pike today

This made me laugh suddenly and it scared the wife.  Bravo.

Cam is out that took out 40% (who will be gone if Cam is ends up leaving anyways).

This is very true.  If Cam is not retained, or is unceremoniously released like Smitty was, Tepper could see up to half his fanbase evaporate over night.

I think you are looking back through Cam colored glasses. Losing seasons always brought low attendance, low enthusiasm, and a light training camp fan attendance the following year. Even with Cam. Especially the game before Christmas. The stadium is empty if it isn't a playoff year. Those that do attend leave at halftime.

Well if we are looking at it from a stadium attendance standpoint yeah we know that has been an issue. That's more due to being such a young franchise than anything. We just don't have much history to establish generations of fans like some of these older franchises that still manage to bring out droves off fans even when they aren't winning much. That goes back to the lack of culture I just mentioned. We've been hearing about that lack of culture even recently.

Our two most successful seasons were largely supported by playmakers like Steve Smith, and Cam Newton when we needed them most. If Cam is done someone else is going to have to fill those shoes. As much as we love CMC, he's still just a running back, and he can't overcome mediocre quarterback play despite setting records as we have clearly seen in 2019.

Did Pike ever actually see the field during a game?  I remember him being one of the 3 quarterbacks we drafted that year and not much else about him.  Sort of a trifecta of crap,  reminiscent of taking 3 CB's a few years later.

He played a couple of snaps against the Saints at home I think.  It was either him or Clausen, but the main thing I remember is one of them heaving a ball basically straight up and one of our guys came down with it somehow.  It looked like a bad punt.

and yeah that was the infamous Armanti Edwards draft

Ron's ho-hum, "well, there's always next week" approach sucked the life out of the fan base.  That and him pummeling Cam into the ground...  Cam provided that electricity for the players and fans alike...  so, losing him and losing games has definitely taken some wind out of our sails.

Can't disagree.
