Allen was never given a decent chance behind that OLine.  And since Grier was drafted in 3rd round by the current HC, that effectively ends Allen future with the Panthers unfortunately. There is no way a HC would play him over the guy he drafted.

I always thought as the HC you and the OC designed the offense around the QB's strength's.  I don't think that happen since if they knew Kyle's arm strength was the in midrange the plays would have been called to get rid of the ball quickly and less deep down the field plays.  I know Kyle took shots and he even said he tried to do too much at times to get the team back into the game.  Maybe why the team won 4 games cause they were developing game plans around his strength, but during that same time period the defense was playing decent ball.  We all know that the defense due to injuries and bad DB and unable to stop the run plays in the last 6 games hasn't been at it's best either.

I don't think it is that cut and dried as far as Allen's future. If Cam even ends up playing it could be only one year. And with his health track record you just might need to keep three QBs. We don't have to do anything, we control his rights.

 

It could end up being a scenario where yeah it looks like Kyle is put on ice for a year but not impossible at all that in 2021 he and Grier battle it our for something, whether it is a starter, the backup, whatever. Being a 3rd round pick isn't going to buy Grier much more than a couple of years pass.

As Warren Sapp used to say “the fastest adapting organism in the world is an NFL defense.”  A little extreme, but the speed in which an NFL defense can turn a hero into a zero is definitely noteworthy.  If you have a particular strength and a particular weakness, guess what NFL defenses are going to prevent you from doing and force you to do?  To be a long term starting QB in the league, you need to be able to win football games with your weaknesses.

Well we do know our defense didn't bring it either did they. So many of those defeats just aren't Kyle's so what was our defense excuse then. Maybe you can pull some old retire sound bite as to why the defense played poorly also.
