Both of these guys (Mccarthy and McDaniels) stink. Go ask any Packer or Broncos how they feel about these guys. Retreads. No thanks!

I don't know, the Patriots took a chance on some head coach that got canned by Cleveland by the name of Bill Belichick.   Not too bad of a retread.

No head coach has ever won a super bowl with two teams.

Don't want McCarthy for that reason alone.

McDaniels, I don't know, I have the weirdest feeling about him. I feel like I should HATE the idea of him as a potential coach, but I actually don't.

I think he was young and arrogant in Denver his first go round, and in St. Louis he really didn't have anything to work with in terms of talent other than an aging Steven Jackson. Can't really judge a guy as an OC with Sam Bradford throwing to Brandon Lloyd with his number 1 WR. I think he's grown up a lot since then and he is well respected as an offensive mind throughout the NFL. The dude is apparently the Hoodie's protege, and daaaaaaaaaamn do I want the next Belichick running the show for us. Maybe I just want to believe more than anything, but I would not hate the idea of McDaniels as our HC.

Virtually everyone agrees that a big part of McDaniels' downfall in Denver was being given too much control and power in the organization too soon. He was already a very young HC and they basically gave him near Belichick level control right out of the gate. He just wasn't ready for it.

Buuuuuuuuut, as someone living out here during that trainwreck it's impossible to overstate just how much of a trainwreck it was. I'm talking Lane Kiffin/Raiders level trainwreck. It was UGLY.

If we hire him, I'll hope like hell he learned a ton from that experience and emerged a new man but honestly having seen it happen up close, I don't want him.

If we hire McCarthy I've pretty much lost all faith in the Tepper era. He seems like the antithesis to what Tepper has claimed to want in a HC.

Agreed. McDaniels is way on the other extreme, imo, in that I think he's on the progressive side that Tepper wants to be. Both are risky options. Both could fail.

McCarthy would be like Ron never left so it would be a status quo fail. McDaniels, though, could explode either way. Huge ceiling with poo tons of potential, but just as much potential for an epic implosion.

If we're going to fail, I'd rather it be on the progressive, experimental side. Given a choice between McCarthy and McDaniels, I'm going to go McDaniels every time.

Maybe it's just me, but while I've heard a lot of Greg Roman talk from the fans, I haven't heard that much from analysts and beat writers.

Maybe it's because there's so much talk about McDaniels. Don't know.

It is true that if his scheme goes as far as people think it can, it's going to potentially put him at a disadvantage when it comes to head coaching searches.

Yep, I honestly don't want McDaniels but I'd rather fail in attempt to be great rather than fail while trying to make a safe hire.

Quick note as far as interview timelines...

Right now the teams that are expected to have a first round bye in the playoffs are the Ravens, Patriots, Seahawks and Packers.

That affects two of the coaches we're said to be interested in. Josh McDaniels and Greg Roman could both be available for interviews in this scenario.

Kevin Stefanski would not be available until the following week at the earliest, depending on whether his team won or not. Their initial game would be at the Saints.
