That was last year.  He hadn't had a year on the team, he hadn't seen any starting action, nor had an additional camp.  A lot can change between last August and next August, we're going to see a ton of roster turnover, and I wouldn't be astonished if Grier was one such 'casualty.'  Depends a lot on how he performs in these games and next camp/preseason (imo, moreso camp/preseason than these 2 games).  I think it is more likely Allen is gone than Grier is gone, but again, a lot will depend on the new coach and the offseason.

Agreed, but why we had three QB's on the 53 man roster this year.  They didn't want to lose Grier since they were disappointed in his play in the preseason, but the concern of losing him to another team if put on PS was real.  I have a funny hunch they will not trade Cam this year to see if he will be back to old Cam cause with him being injured his market value will not bring them a #2 with maybe a conditional #2 depending on the following year which could turn into a #1 if he meets certain conditions.

I agree with what you're saying, which is why we will carry 3 QBs next year.  Cam, plus a competent veteran backup of some kind on a short deal or a QB that falls into our lap in the draft, plus one of Grier/Allen...

Some of Allen's obvious problems later on were hinted at in his first games... So I think it doesn't tell us a ton about Grier, but it will tell us something, depending on how he plays in these last 2 games... how he throws the ball, the decisions he makes under pressure, etc.

he can escape the pocket and that is it.

I thought he was good at the deep ball? He under threw 2 deep passes that should have been big plays or even a touchdown.

only Grier's first game... but I really hope he can do a bit better next week. I don't care a ton about stats and w/l, I just like to see good, smart plays and development of the young QB. I liked his ability to move around and out of the pocket and to find CMC.  But he still was sacked 5 times despite it and had a real rough time getting the ball to receivers/anyone past ~5 yards.

it would be hard not to improve on, so he's got that going for him.  thing going against him is the saints may want to win.
