"In order for me to leave, they got to get rid of me." - Cam

It would have to be an amazing deal to give up on a former MVP without seeing if he can bounce back.     People seriously forget how amazing 2015 was.    Cam dominated with a meh offensive line and having Tedd Ginn as his number one target.     You just don't give up on someone like that a few years out.

This doesn't help his negotiating position at all

In fact, he's giving up significant leverage

Not really.

He's saying exactly what you'd expect him to say, same as when David Tepper says what he does. If you go back to previous stories, you'll find plenty of similar statements from players and owners that eventually ended up parting ways.

People looking for something to stake their claim on will take this and run with it whether it actually means anything or not.

You do if you don't think they're the same player anymore.

here we go

At this point you have to question just why he is pushing so fuging hard for Cam to be gone, to the point he is basically calling Cam a liar when he says he wants to be here long term. It really makes you wonder

@Mr. Scot you can keep trying to talk above everyone all you want but at the end of the day all signs are pointing to Newton being a Panther in 2020. All this hypothetical "but negotiations" "but contracts" "but new regime" stuff you throwing around doesn't hold weight.

Panthers need a quarterback

Cam is a franchise quarterback

Cam is our quarterback.

end of story.

Even the people that say that it would have to be an amazing deal for me to trade Cam I disagree with ..

If a team wants to give you an amazing deal for your QB .. your QB must be pretty amazing .. and if you have a pretty amazing QB .. no draft picks or anything else can equate what Cam brings ..

It's just dumb, almost as dumb as wanting McDaniels to be Head Coach

Whether he still is one is very much up in the air.

Cam can absolutely just stay quiet on that front or say he has no say in it. He didn’t l, he expressed multiple times how much he wanted to stay in Carolina. Maybe a team with a different Qb is better suited for you as a fan since for some reason you can’t stand the one we have here?

it's the same reason he was posting all the nonsense Nolan Nowracki was saying pre-draft...and leading up to the draft was seriously questioning his character in a suspect manner.

No surprise he's ready to kick him out like Uncle Phil did Jazzy Jeff

Jim Bob Cooter has all of it well documented

Taking things that are said when sides are negotiating at face value always turns out great.

We can all agree that whatever happens is far from happening. That said, I do think that this probably shows that if there was any truth to the "Cam won't play without a new deal" stuff, it probably wasn't coming from Cam.

I'd guess maybe his agent or just people in the Panthers speculating. That's why I said at the time that even if that was the current rumors, there was a lot of time between then and the decision(which there still is).
