You under estimate how much morale a team loses when not having it's starting QB

The Steelers are 8-6 despite being down to their #3 QB. Strong organizations and well-built rosters and well coached teams find a way and persevere. With a healthy Cam and a trash D, I think 8-6 is right about where we'd likely be.

Losing Cam essentially took us out of contention altogether but given our other significant issues I don't think by any means that a healthy Cam would have us looking like 2015 all over again.

2015 feels like an alternate reality right now.

Back then, I sure as hell didn't foresee things shaking out the way they did.

is that why the team lost its first two games with its starting QB, then the win 5 of the next 6 with its backup?

morale is low because the team knows they aren't very good, their coach lost his job, the offense is not very good, and the defense can't stop anyone.

This line would be getting Cam killed, and while he would unquestionably move the offense better than Allen, he alone wouldn't carry this team to 13-3.

So yes, Tepper was questioning a Newton extension at the time he bought the team, and in the two years since Newton hasn't stayed healthy.

Please re-read what you bolded.  It does not agree with the conclusion you are drawing.

Are you under the impression that the only way to extend any player is to give them a top of the market contract?

There’s that, too.

I've come up with a simple algorithm to come up with why Cam Newton will 100% stay a Panther ..

If a team came calling offering, say, two second round picks for Cam .. we'd say thanks, but we'll just keep Cam and hope for the best ..

If a team came calling, offering, say, three first round picks, our organization would have to ask itself why we want to trade a QB worth three first round picks ..

The best thing that can happen for Cam is, he shakes this injury bug, he comes back in 2020 and plays at an MVP level - and then gets the contract he wants

Mr. Scot stop posting??

Surely you jest.  He's posted over NINETY THOUSAND times!

It's what defines him.  It's what he gets up every day for.  No one has ever spent so much time defending his position, in the history of man.

Stop posting?  It is to laugh.

He probably gets kick-back from Zod to keep this place buzzing with idiotic takes

Wentz's has looked the same and I haven't heard anyone calling for his head

Wentz is currently playing, so not really comparable, especially because there were fans suggesting the Eagles keep Foles over him last offseason.  If Wentz is unable to finish the season, we'll see what happens.  But he has also played quite a few less seasons/has seen less wear and tear than Cam.

Plus, let's remember that Cam hasn't really been fully healthy since 2015.  He played through injuries, and has now had multiple surgeries/procedures on two different parts of his body.  It isn't directly comparable to Wentz.
