Yep. We have the best all-around RB in the league. We have the best MLB in the league. We have a young elite WR.

We need to fix the trenches on both sides of the ball, but like you said, we have some very good core pieces that any team in the league would love to have.

I asked him to start a thread on that, but I disagree with you here, but that could be the different ways that we like to see teams built.

I prefer a very strong O and D line, which they were building out there, we have neither.

I tend to agree with you.  I would think we could see the playoffs in the 3rd season of a rebuild.  That rebuild could go much faster without Cam on the roster, but you could also build the team like crazy for 3 years, and then not have a good enough QB to make a playoff run.

We are in a bad situation.

We looked like reconstituted elephant sh-t in 2012 and then went to the playoffs one offseason later.

I wouldn't even try to estimate how long it's going to take.

Me too, but you have to start with the pieces you have. We have those pieces, focus on the trenches. If we had the trenches, we'd be focusing on acquiring the pieces that we currently have.

I wanted to hang onto TD for another season and let Shaq walk without even picking up his 5th year option. Now here we are paying Shaq like an elite LB. Oh wee mayne.

I don't hate Shaq. I think he's a good LB. But he's not elite. Hopefully he will become elite because that's what we're paying him to be.

I'm still a bit confused as to why he got so much. If Bradberry walks that will be hard.

Well in essence Greed is good for the player but not for the team. I'm sure Matt Kalil has no hard feelings about his deal but the fans do pay for that in more than one way.

If you wanted to find it that way, you'd have to say the teams are greedy too.

They want to pay as little as possible for maximum results.

You are correct, I guess I should say more than a run to the playoffs, a shot at the trophy....although I'm always harping on just getting there and letting the chips fall where they may.

I just think that our offensive and defensive lines are in a mess, and both would/will be very important for a playoff march.  10 years ago it wouldn't have bothered me as much, but with the state of O lines around the league, I'm just not sure what to think any longer.

The actual buildup took longer them longer than that.  Its just that everything finally came together for them this year.

For so very long we got away with a bad Oline. I think Star getting scalped by the Bills hurt too. Dave's idea to lock up a UT before a NT was not a good idea.

No doubt about it, I just think it's easier to get a good/great WR or RB than it is T's, C's, DT's, DE's, etc....

But I'm with you, we have a few pieces....as sad as that sounds.

I'm less interested in a quick rebuild than I am one that makes us a perennial contender.

I have no illusions about how much of a dung pile that might wind up looking like in the intervening years.

The 49ers were only bad last year because they were dealing with an injured veteran QB that only started 3 games.

Once their QB1 got healthy, they rebounded.

The saints are just better team all around for sure. I don't think you really can evaluate any players this year because of just how bad the staff got. Lots of effort issues for sure but also lots of poor coaching. Fans love to blame players but forget they may just be as frustrated as we are.

I will agree that it is never the fault of one group.  If a team is not good, its usually several things.
