John Fox on who is starting the FS Position

I wouldn't be surprised to see Godfrey starting at all. Nor would I be surprised to see Martin out there a whole lot, no matter who starts the game.

Yep. He'd still be in the league, and John Fox would be saying that he is the team's best option, since Tom Brady hasn't shown him anything.

And Godfrey will start, and be outplayed on the field by Martin, and THEN Martin will get the job. That's if Martin is, in fact, better. I think he is and that's what will happen, for what it's worth.

But you don't lose the job because you got hurt. When you get well you should have a chance to hold on to it. And Fox is a stand-up guy, and he'll give that to Godfrey. But starting is not a guarantee of playing time, nor is it permanent.

BTW, Bledsoe would have been out under Fox. Are you guys forgetting Rodney Peete?

Fox decides on Thursday who starts the next week. I doubt he changes his routine. He needs to see if Godfrey can even go on Wednesday before making his decision. It will be revealed in good time.

As far as I know no. Fox is the one who says who starts and don't I could be wrong. But the HC has the final say in who starts. Trust me if Godfey is healthy and ready to go sunday he will start. But I am sure Martin time on the field will increase at safety.

it isn't a smokescreen....people claimed he was doing that w/ the QB situation and he wasn't.

Fox will stay w/ Godfrey. He has been riding Godfrey and his horrible play for awhile now...... Same reason Jake started AZ is why Godfrey will be back on the field.

The situationa arent the same. Delhomme continues to start because there is no viable option to replace him. Thats not the case with Godfrey.

Yeah, I'm guessing that Martin has been making plays in practice too, and that's why he got the start yesterday. We have no idea how Matt Moore has done in practice, except that it must be a little better than Feeley.

Here's the deal, Martin played a hell of a game and it was quite a revelation. He has most likely earned himself the starting position. However, Godfrey was hurt, so Fox is probably going to give him a chance to at least show that he should still be the starter before he yanks him. Most likely, during practice this week Martin will probably split time with Godfrey on 1st team D. The coaches will then make a decision on who is going to start.

Some of you amaze me with your Fox hate. Sure I am not oh so high on the guy myself right now, but he is not sitting around thinking of ways to sabotage our season.

Fox will make the right call. They had enough confidence in Martin to play him instead of Teal on Sunday. It was his shot and he came through. Fox isn't going to let Godfrey know he isn't starting by reading a blog post anyways. That would be a real shitty thing to do.
