I will say that the criticism of Herbert for being from a bad QB school are pretty silly when you consider that Burrow and Tua are both from two other schools who rarely(if ever) put successful QB's in the NFL. They are all pretty equal when it comes to that.

well, LSU and Bama are no longer playing traditional SEC offense.  So I don't hold the past against them where they inserted old school game manger types that had great success purely because of loaded rosters.

But Tua's health makes him a no.  And yeah, Burrow hasn't shown enough.  Wish LSU had to go through OH and Clemson instead of just getting one.   Would give us a better idea on him.

I don't like any of the QBs from this draft.   Not w/ a top 15 pick.

We should go OL or DL.  Want us to go WR in the 2nd.

This ^. I'm keeping my eye on Sam Howell. This kid looks like a legit NFL starter one day. Would give us time to sort out Cam and/or Grier and build the roster especially the OL.

Conversely, even with more modern offenses, they are largely successful because they are surrounded by loaded rosters(still). I don't think going through Ohio St. and Clemson would make me think any more or less of Burrow. He's been tested against a very tough schedule this year already and put up video game numbers. I'm just a little skeptical of him based on his physical skillset. He is not an elite arm strength guy and he compares moreso to guys like Andy Dalton than some of the upper tier NFL guys, IMO.

All that being said, I wouldn't be upset if the Panthers took him. I wouldn't be upset if they took Herbert and I wouldn't be upset if they took Tua. I'd be skeptical and I'd be mad if they traded valuable draft capital to move up to get them. But, I also was heavily anti-Cam when we took him(SEC hatred mixed with viewing him as a gimmick offense guy). So, crow is actually pretty tasty, if you prepare it right.

I'm admittedly not objective about this, but to me, you do everything you can to get multiple first and second round picks for the next draft and trade the farm to go get Trevor.

I wouldn't be opposed to that either. But Howell would be a nice alternative to a king's ransom for Trevor. I'd be stoked to see either of them in a Panthers uni.

Howell definitely looks like a stud. Dude has an unreal deep ball. Like literally one of the best deep ball throwers I've ever seen as a true freshman.

well, I am part of the SEC is so vastly overrated it completely skews all of college football crowd.  I mean, Burrow has proved himself against overrated SEC schools for one season.  That is his resume.  Which is why I wish he went through the 2 best teams in college football here at the end.

Definitely a guy with a lot of physical talents. If he can improve on his overall accuracy he is definitely a guy that could be on the NFL radar. For sure a guy to keep an eye on.

It's easy to claim them to be overrated by he's also facing arguably the greatest defensive talent pool in the country on a consistent basis. I hate the SEC as much as anyone but the talent in that conference is pretty undeniable.

Don't let the stats fool you. Through week 9, UNC receivers had a 12.9% drop rate (96th out of 130). He's still completing over 60% of his passes and has the 12th highest passing efficiency in the NCAA despite that. He also has the 13th highest yards per completion and is 7th in points responsible for per game. All of this while playing behind a pretty poor OL allowing the 110th ranked sack percentage.

It's not really being fooled, historically QB's that struggle with completion percentage in college struggle with it in the NFL. That is a pretty decent indicator of future NFL success.

So if that doesn't come up over his career, it's going to be a cause for concern. He's a guy that is physically gifted for sure.

60% seems to be the Mendoza Line for college QBs having a chance to translate to the NFL. He's already over that as a true freshman while constantly attacking deep to receivers with the dropsies.
