We draft players later in the draft and trash them if they do not come in as instant successes.  Rounds one and two are basically for starters and the rest are developmental.

With this line, he is going to struggle.

Allen should have been benched after his game Sunday.

While true, he's still gonna get roasted all to hell if he struggles (which I expect he will, with less than a week's worth of practicing with the guys he'll play alongside, not to mention a "historically bad OL" as it has been called since Week 3)

Yes. I would run 60% of the time and manage the game with Grier to avoid that.  If we could play  with a lead, you can do that.  When the D is giving up 3 TDs in the first half, it is hard.

Agreed. He shouldn’t throw it more than 20 times. We need to run the ball. I’ve said the same thing for months. Honestly it’s a shock we picked up Davis and he’s gotten 0 carries.

Grier was the 100th pick in the draft, and he'll be playing behind an o-line that struggles to pass block well. I think we're giving him a look mostly because we know at this point that Allen is backup material. At this point it's more about who will be the better backup to keep for next season. It's Grier versus Allen, and I think Grier will come out on top because Marty thinks he has a higher ceiling imo.

Reggie B too--he has had a few flashes--then crickets.

Good people will finally shut up about him, not that 2 games will say anything unless you have a Grier agenda

Even one game can say a lot, and outcomes in football don't really have anything to do with agendas.

One thing I will note is that if the Colts win tonight, they'll still have something to play for next week. The Saints will also be playing for playoff ceding in week 17. This ain't last season.

Few thoughts on this.......

1) Wasn't there some talk that Allen had some minor shoulder pain a few weeks back?.........Could it be that with his running around in the backfield and getting some hits it might be worse as part of the factor here?

2) Are they testing the waters to see what they have with Grier to figure out what they want to do with the QB situation next year?

3) If they are doing #2 what can you learn with an oline like this one while the guy is scrambling for his life?............then again he is a better scrambler than Allen so maybe that is part of the plan?

I sure hope they don't win with him....................draft picks are hard enough to come by as it is when you are in the Panthers situation.
