So much for Kuechly being done or over the hill: he's once again PFF's top graded LB this season

I talked about this when we decided to use more 3-4 looks in the offseason. The problem in a 3-4 is that you have to have linebackers who can shed offensive linemen to get to the ball carrier. Given Luke is 235 going up against lineman often tipping 300 and the fact Luke has changed how he tries to shed blocks and tackles to keep from more concussions, this was a bad fit for him from the start. He needs 4 linemen to help keep him clean so he can flow to the runner. He gets washed out routinely and it is scheme and having no true nose tackle who can take on double teams like Star did. The defense can be very dynamic once again going back to a 4-3 and working hard with guys like Haynes and Burns to bulk up 20 lbs. They have the frame to be good against the run and pass if they could hold the edge and turn plays inside instead of being 10 yards up the field completely out of position to make a play.

I'll say this though: that we could have the best linebacker in the league and yet our defense still be as bad as it is really speaks to the importance or lack thereof of linebackers in 2019.

Also CMC, hes having one hell of season and the offense is what it is....... Still for both lines playing like baby poo, I am amazed they are able to put up these numbers.

QB is far and beyond the most valuable spot in all of sports. I understand why teams give away sooo much just for the chance at a good one.
