Opinions: not a guaranteed starting QB for 2020

It'd be nice to at least have a known commodity we can win with.  With the uncertainty around Cam, we need to do something as safety.  I would prefer taking another stab at a young talent.  Grier will get a chance eventually.  We'll see but I'm not hopeful even though I think he looked like he had a ton of potential in college.  Burrow isn't happening in the slightest and Tua a year stash so it's a pick for the future with him being in recovery.  Herbert could happen but you'd have to think that's only in the event we move on from Cam.  We need help elsewhere with our high pick.

My fave options, unorganized:

Jalen Hurts

Jordan Love (Was megahyped last season and looked good in parts this year.  Needs to develop decision making wise but there is tremendous potential)

Nate Sudfield

Nick Mullens

Teddy Bridgewater

One last one but I'm not exactly a believer in him but he's won: Marcus Mariota...Maybe we just grab Mariota for a season behind Cam.

Or they know we suck and that by starting him it will only hurt his development...

This doesn’t make any sense to me and I can’t name another team that’s coddled any quarterback like that. It’s also completely against the Panthers MO if we’re being real. Protect Grier but leave CMC and Luke out there for meaningless games?

Either they’re tanking or he is just that bad.

Look what KC did with Mahomes. he sat the 1st 15 games as a rookie. The Panthers have said they wanted him to sit and learn all year. And the way the line is, what good would it do? Do you really think we'll see what he's got running for his life? I would like to see him play but I do understand why they don't and what good would it do anyway.

The only thing I can think of is that Grier is so beneath Allen that the coaches know playing him would only make the situation worse.

Panthers have the worse OL in NFL.  Allen has been sacked more than anyone since week 3 of this season.  Tom Brady would get destroyed behind this OL... putting Grier in there will not fix anything.

the team is beyond fixing. putting Grier in may give us an idea of some of what he can do, tho, and I think that could be valuable going in to next year.

At this point (regardless of what Cam does), they have to sign a vet. No guarantee if Cam comes back he can stay healthy and the answer is not on the roster. Have to have a vet as a backup at the very least.
