CMC is Getting Very Close to Some Milestones

Might as well talk about stat padding considering where the season is right now.

McCaffrey currently has 1,220 rushing yards and 726 receiving yards , 1946 yards from scrimmage

  • 1st in NFL in yards from scrimmage (2. Dalvin Cook 1611  3. Nick Chubb 1537 )
  • 3rd in NFL in rushing yards (1. Nick Chubb 1281  2.  Derrick Henry 1243 )
  • 3rd in NFL in rushing yards per game (93.8)
  • 2nd (tied) in NFL in rushing TDs (12)
    • Hasn't been a big year for rushing TDs, considering the single season record is 28 by Ladanian Tomlinson (2006)
  • 3rd in NFL with 246 rushing attempts ( 1. Nick Chubb 253   2. Derrick Henry 250 )

Some milestones he has a shot at

  • 2019 rushing leader
  • 2019 rushing td leader
  • 2019 receiving yards for rbs leader
  • 2019 receptions for rbs leader
  • All Time Yards from Scrimmage Single Season ( 1. Chris Johnson 2009 : 2,509 )
    • 564 total yards from scrimmage for the record
  • Become 3rd player all time to reach 1000 rushing / 1000 receiving (1. Rodger Craig 1985 : 1050 rushing / 1016 receiving ) (2. Marshall Faulk 1999 : 1381 rushing / 1048 receiving)
    • Needs 274 more receiving yards  / about 91.3 per game through the last 3 games
  • First Pro Bowl Selection
  • First All-Pro Selection
  • Offensive Player of the Year

I'm wondering how much he's actually going to play in these last 3 games though, considering we're eliminated from playoff contention.

The only sad thing is he has ZERO playoff wins in 3 years. We really need a healthy QB and upgraded oline for that I guess. Could you imagine if we had CMC on the 2015 roster?

The biggest difficulty CMC is facing right now in hitting these milestones is the loss of Greg van Roten from the offensive line. GVR was the key to those big up the middle runs. The guy just became the best pulling guard in the game and he was instrumental in making those plays where CMC was able to just POP through the line and tear off 50-yd touchdowns.

How well did GVR execute that play? They ran it one time with Reggie Bonnafon and boom he scored a 50+ yard TD.

I think CMC can take the big record down, but it's going to take a Herculean effort on his part now as the big chunk plays seem to be tapering off. The guy can still do it, because, well, let's face it, he's one of the best running backs to take the field in a generation.

When did GVR come out and who is starting at LG now?

And why do we always constantly have offensive line injuries?

GVR was injured during the Saints game and went on IR for a toe injury.

Left Guard will be Darryl Williams. Heaven help CMC and Kyle.

Hasn't he played like every position except Center this year and sucked at every single on of them?

I would be leery about starting CMC in fantasy football today.

But I'm a fool and he's my ride or die so away we go.

This is in my league, not sure how his points are in others.  CMC had one really bad game in week two verse TB with 7.30, the second worst game was against Washington with 17.20, has averaged 32.12 in my league per game, with those insane numbers if he even plays half the snaps ( say divide it in half by 32 ) he will still be getting you 16 points average per game.  Who would be a better running back on your roster to play than CMC?  Unless you have a stable of stud starting running backs you take that nearly guaranteed 16 points.  BTW, I picked Barkley in the first round because I didn't want to be a homer and I am a freakin' moron.

Watch the previous games and pay particular attention to the line. GVR was the best run blocker we had and actually the best pass blocker in most games. Heck, I find it hard to believe considering his performance last year, but the guy was clicking. And his ability to pull and do the seal block on that up the center run was priceless. CMC could have used him today.

I'll update this stuff tomorrow morning when the stats are in for Sundays games.

I can say that McCaffrey now has 1307 rushing yards, 814 receiving yards, 2121 yards from scrimmage, 18 total TDs.

Only needs 186 receiving yards for 1000/1000. That's a lot for a RB through 2 games but its certainty possible.

For the Season he is averaging 58.14 per game, ( for average he should have around 930 when its all said and done assuming he plays out the rest of the season nearly every snap )doubt very much he is going to tear off 93 per game but its possible just not probable.  Most starting wide receivers will not even have those numbers through two games.  Doubt we see the 1000/1000 this season but I am hoping he gets it with two spectacular games.

With that said, he has a chance for the scrimmage yard records but again, looking at averages, he probably won't be able to obtain it.  He would have to have two monster games, again not impossible but doubt it happens.  He is averaging 151.5 per game ( which is amazing for what it is, record be damned ).  Lets say he hits his average game for both, he would be sitting at 2424 on the season putting him @ third place behind the great Marshall Faulk who sits at 2429 and in front of LT 2390.  In order to hit the record set by Chris Johnson @ 2509 he would need 194 yards per game.  His best game ( yards total ) this season came against Jax with 237.  Next best was against  LA @209.  He has also had a few games in the 170-180 range.   Really wish he didn't have those two crappy games against Tampa Bay, if he had under average days for those two, he would probably beat the record this season.  Damn you Tampa!
