Hate to say it but Lamar Jackson is better than Cam already.

And in those 8 games he threw for 58% completions and just 6 TDs.  Winning and losing is a team stat. Citing wins and losses for a QB is like doing it for a pitcher in baseball. You could have an awful game at QB and be the reason your team isn’t pulling away but your defense picks you up and you win 3-0. The QB gets a “win” despite being the clear weak link. It’s a flawed stat.

just like if he dominated and his team scored 42 points but his defense gives up 45 he gets a loss.

Use context.

This isn’t tennis, it’s not 1v1.  QB is part of the team, relies on o line protection, WRs to catch balls and make post catch yardage, relies on RBs to draw defenders.   Qb is as good as the system and defence he is facing as well.   Win rate is a fair stat for a Qb.

Win rate isn’t a fair stat because it doesn’t show how well you played. You can be great and your team let you down or you can be awful but your defense steps. If a pitcher goes 20-3 in baseball with a 5 ERA and another pitcher is 11-10 with a 1.50 ERA the guy with the worse record is FAR superior. Wins and losses as a stat to define a player is absolutely stupid in the ultimate team sport.

this is silly. of course we're basing this off of one season. we're talking about who's better. it would be pointless to talk about the entirety of a career because lamar hasn't had one yet. cam has peaked and his peak was MVP. he fulfilled his potential and he was borderline great. the super bowl performance hurts him from a legacy standpoint, but the rate at which he's racking up yards and rushing records has been impressive. if he can get the counting stats, maybe he can get into canton. he looks good from a total offense perspective. ahead of several hall of fame names already. the touchdown record for a quarterback helps.

but here's the thing. what lamar jackson is doing right now is by measures of degrees more impressive than anything any rushing quarterback has ever done. he broke a rushing record some people thought might be impossible and it took him the first drive of his 14th game. two full games to add to it. he's completing 66% of his passes and has 33 TD passes to 6 INT. he might break the rushing record for a quarterback and throw 40 touchdowns. it's just silly. this has never been done. it doesn't matter if his season and career end tomorrow. what he has accomplished this season will forever be relevant when talking about the best quarterback performances in league history. if he can win a super bowl, this season alone might be enough to make him canton worthy.

I don't think Cam has lived up to his potential. I also don't blame the coaching staff, nor the franchise, as that is often short sited, and ignores way to many other factors. .

All this is a moot point as Cam is unlikely to be as good as a rusher as he once was. He can still become a better passer.

Back on point, Lamar Jackson is lighting up it up, and people need to stop comparing dick sizes.

Lamar went 7-1 his rookie year with a roster not built for him. That was an exceptional year. He is 20-3 as an NFL starter in 1.5 years. Nobody has anointed him. But we can at least recognize what he has accomplished so far is amazing given the projections of the highly paid "loud mouth" experts.

so did Kyle Allen?

How good was Baltimore’s defense rated again last year? I forget?

Cams first season we had like the 28th ranked defense.

Cam set 13 rookie records including yards, completions, 2 400 yard games to start his career, had 35 touchdowns and we went 6-10

we had no defense

people say defense doesn’t matter anymore but playoff teams have top 15 defenses and Super Bowl winners typically have top 10 at least— playing their best ball in the playoffs.

Lamar has a big boy defense.

Nah lol

The Ravens literally built their entire offense around Lamar and their OL is good and they still play with 3...yes 3 TE sets lol when is the last time Cam  had 2 TE sets? Learn some football man wtf. They stack big bodies and bully people off the LOS. RIvera and Shula 50 IQ combined selves would never be anywhere near that coherent.

Their coaching staff this year is better than if we had every coach the Panthers have ever had on one staff at the same time and could fully utilize all coaches strengths during the year.

Name just 3 more of those many other factors.

Cam was doing same thing till he became a target for headhunting and look where he is now. Lamar Jackson will probably receive the same treatment by opposing players soon enough with the "take him out" plan.

We are now blaming organizations for building a team around the best attributes of their best players. How stupid is this sentence? BTW, Talking heads keep repeating this on TV.

When Todd Bowles couldn't build a team around the skillset of Sam Darnold, he was fired. When coach Jackson couldn't build a team around the skillset of Baker Mayfield, he was fired.

Someway, somehow, Lamar is being penalized (aka insulted), because a team was built around his skillset. During the Kaepernick discussions, the haters always told us that it was a crime to build a team around the best skillset of a guy, who has won 2 NFC championships, has gone to the SB. I used to think the people making these arguments (on TV or on forums) were just simply dumb. But, I have come to the conclusion that they are pathetic liars, who are trying to intentionally mislead...

Somehow, Organizations are allowed to build around certain players (QB), but not others (QB).

I agree that is a better talent and further in his skill sets that Cam maybe ever was........you can just see that by the way he is playing right now.......but the real question is how will he hold up to the eventual punishment he will take?

Cam is as potent a physical body to take on such punishment that has ever played the position and look at the injuries he has incurred.

I'm thinking this Jackson fella is going to end up like Vick or RGIII......
