Burrow slipping to #5 would be one of the craziest things I've ever seen happen in the draft. He'd have to straight up tell teams to go fug themselves in interviews to slip to #5.

And to answer your question. I have lurked here since at least 2004. You guys need to do somethi g with the liberal trolls. This place is turning into an echo chamber because they gang up on everyone that doesnt agree with them. You are letting trolls run off people who have knowledge and so.ethi g to bri g to the table.

Oh absolutely it's possible, and not unheard of. But any heir apparent is going to need some Cam Newton traits in his game with the holes in this roster and the state of our OL. Whoever it is will have to be able to make something out of nothing like Newton has done often here, let's just be real. How many rookies that will be available where we are picking actually fit that bill? How many FA's that won't break the bank? So far we seem to have virtually no confidence of any kind in the quarterback we drafted last year, and Allen is proving more and more why he's a backup. It's looking more and more like 2021 or 2022 will be when we make a move for the future quarterback. Unless you guys want us to trade the farm to move up in the 2020 draft. Whatever happens, these penny pinching types in anguish at the thought of 19 million in cap space for Newton better get used to that, whoever the next QB is will be getting paid accordingly with the league average when their time comes like any other quarterback, and it will not come cheap by any means. Otherwise accept being the Browns for the next decade or more.

I agree with pretty much everything you said.  I don't expect a competitive team next year, but I hope that whomever takes over is able to find a way to get us a young core developing (even if sans QB) on both sides of the ball with an eye towards the future.

One thing - I don't care that Cam costs 19 million next year, but I do care if he wants an extension for multiple years given the rebuild. A holdout means he is not a Panthers.
