Time to change playoffs

We are 5-8 and eliminated from the playoffs and the Eagles are 6-7 and tied for a playoff spot at home... time to do away with divisions, just time to start using them to determine who we play every year... the fact is, as bad as we are, the eagles are 1 game better and have something to fight for.... a 10-6 or better team is going to have to visit very possibly a 10-6 team.:, sick of this garbage...

P.S, don’t care we made it in 2014 at 7-8-1, that crap was garbage and we got lucky and played THE ONE team that we had a a chance to beat...

ultimately, it’s a joke the Seahawks will possibly be 12-4 traveling to the 8-8 Eagles or Cowboys. Just time to recognize a broken system...the Panthers likely are better then 5-8 if in the NFC east....I’d rather play 15 conference games and 1 AFC game a year....

If they do anything, they just need to reseed the 6 teams that make it. That's as far as id go though

EXACTLY. We still would've beat Arizona in their place in 2014... They were THAT BAD... I just think this system sucks and It's BS our season is over when we are literally 1 game worse then Dallas or Philly. Not trying to get us in the playoffs, don't mistake it, but we never really had a shot after losing to ATL in November... Just sucks teams are sitting over there sucking and getting to dance while we have to sit and watch Drew Brees BS... We play 2 MVP QBs 4 freaking times a year... Bruce Arians isn't a pushover at HC....I'd go as far to say we are 8-5 in the NFC East, possibly playing to clinch the division on Sunday... The idea of divisions is broken and has allowed the Patriots to dominate the NFL for 20 years while the NFL sat back and did ZERO. It was Damn obvious the other 3 teams in the division never had a chance to improve with Tom and Bill dominating... If they had to play Brees, Newton, and Matt Ryan (He is still elite, sorry, but he shows up and doesn't some games) Brady likely still has 3-4 rings atm... but he doesn't have that many at this point... He literally has 6 free wins a year...

I really like the NBA system, there is still divisions to determine opponents (retain rivalry) but the thing is, there is no losing 7-8-1 teams getting in over 10-6 teams...

The system is still WAY better than the ridiculous  College Football system where a bunch of old man at the end of the season decide who will end up in the play-offs.  Makes for hours and hours of endless radiotalk and TV airtime filled by an endless stream of overpaid "analysts".  Is the NFL system perfect? No. Is it transparent? Yes. Just win your division and you are in.

Nope. Win your division, get a home game.

Why should a 11-5 team who obviously had a freaking amazing team in their division not get to go to the playoffs while a sub .500 team goes? We hosted the 12-4 49ers in 2013 cause the 13-3 Seahawks were that dang good... They had to travel and play the 8-7-1 Packers in freezing weather... The packers got to play 6 games against teams worse then 500 while the 9ers had the Panthers and Seattle twice and if I remember correctly, Arizona was AT LEAST solid in 2013...

Just feels like we try to retain soap opera scenarios… Why can't the BEST 12 TEAMS get in the playoffs? It's SO stupid.

Not asking for that. Divisions stay the Same... Top 6 records go to the postseason... If 4 teams in division are worse then the 6th best team, sorry, your division sucked and you still couldn't be the 6th best team...

I am willing to settle for seeding based on record= 12-4 wild card hosts 9-7 division winner... It's almost 2020, time to quit Grandpas rule and act like this is a professional sports league trying to crown a LEGIT champion.  Why is a 12-4 team at a disadvantage and a 9-7 one isn't can't justify it.... MLB gets away with it, but you will get at least 2-4 home games a series anyway...

Life ain't fair, but the playoffs are fine the way they are.

Now realigning the divisions... that would be a good thing.

Add in eight more teams and have five per division. Things get much more interesting.

And screw the NBA playoffs... basically everyone gets to play and they take six months.

There would be no point of having divisions. Every team's goal is to win their division. That's the point of the regular season. The wild card teams are gifted another chance. Tough luck, but it is what makes the NFL interesting.

Unless you want to make it like the NBA?

While I share the frustration, there isn't really a good solution.  This year the Cowboys are likely to benefit from a flawed system.  The Eagles have an opportunity, but it's such a slim one there isn't much point in talking about it.  In 2014, we were the beneficiaries.

So what are you going to realign the divisions every time a team has a dominant run? Patriots era is going to end at some point. You are witnessing history. The draft system is designed to give the better new players to teams who finish worst off. The salary cap ensures no team can buy all the talent. The coaching and leadership of a team is what makes it dominating-  not which division it plays in.

I like that the current playoff system allows for the chance that a team can make the playoffs and have a chance at a championship, even if they have a losing record. Keeps things interesting.

and like our 7-8-1 team, they still had to take care of business when it mattered and they earned their place.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
