Did you know Matt Kalil will still be counting against our cap NEXT season?

Lmao! Yeah I knew this thread would trigger you. Calm down little buddy, no need to get so worked up.

Nah :)

Now, if I were somebody who ignored every other single thing that's going on with the team and only ever talked about one thing, specifically something that isn't even relevant anymore and hasn't been for a while, that'd be a good sign of being triggered, possibly obsessed, and frankly very pathetic.

Luckily, that's not me :shades:

It’s the worst I’ve ever seen. At least other players that got FA Bust contracts usually did something to deserve it. Kalil was a bottom 5 LT, if he was even healthy enough to play. What convinced anyone that he would suddenly get better?

From what I remember, he had a spur or ridge in his hip socket that was causing him to have problems with his lateral movement. It was removed/fixed but left him with pain in OTAs and preseason that took him a while to recover from. It was supposed to have healed in full during the 2017 season and he could concentrate on just playing football. That felt like a JR contract then and it still does now. Still no way in hell we ever should have done it.

Breaking news. He still sucked even after his hip was fixed.

Bad contracts from the Panthers outside of Kalil

Delhomme - loved me some Jake but dayum

DWill and Stu - not a single contract but that was a hell of a lot of money to sink into 2 RBs

KK - The restructure was terrible

Paradis/DWill 2 - 2 contracts to O-linemen coming off major injury. There were huge question marks, especially with Elway saying he didn't want to re-sign him because of injury concerns. With no backup plan in place, we've seen what happened this year with one of the worst o-lines the panthers have ever fielded. With the depth of the draft for interior linemen, I saw this whole offseason as a failure of epic proportions.

I also don't consider Gilbert a bad contract as much as I consider it one of the worst trades in NFL history. Giving up 2 1sts for a guy who sat out a season is freaking insane. The only thing Gilbert pounded when he came to camp was Twinkies.

Beacon is a very comparable deal. But even he can blame injury and earned it that amount with high level Of play. Kalil quit after one year. One! And forced us to put an injured DW out there.

And Anderson and Williams also played well before their deals that were much cheaper. And still played years after.

25M for one year of awful LT play. Find me anything that matches that.

This is absolutely true, I was leaning more toward the structure, not the amount of service we got from the players, but 25M for 1 season of bad tackle play is really bad.

That signing always stuck out to me as being 100% "different" than all of DG's other signings......

Shame he got injured, but Dontari Poe is a really really good DT, not sure why everyone lumps him into bad contracts

71.6 rating from Pro Football Focus this year

Get those facts out of here, you know sound logic isn’t allowed here

How much did Delhomme get in 2009?

I can't find the breakdown, but I think it would probably come out to about 20M for less than 12 months...I could be wrong though.

And this was over a decade ago.

Adjusted for inflation, it seems like it would probably be around 34M for that season in todays dollars.

It's not a contract that hindered us.

Throwing away 6M sure doesn’t help anyone....does it? It’s a waste. Does that mean 9.8M. doesn’t hinder us. Because that isn’t much difference. But truth is they both hinder decisions.

That has to be one of the weirdest stances on the huddle, and possibly in our entire franchise.

"Its not a back breaker" is what I seem to hear around here a lot.  I wonder if these folks actually pay any attention to the cap, if they don't understand that you can roll that money over to the next season, or can only pull a Marty and be able to look at this season alone, in a vacuum?
