If a person puts American ketchup on a steak they put it on everything. 

Actual ketchup is fish sauce(just FYI).

Damn are people really invested into how people like their food? I’ve seriously never heard of this before. I got a buddy that puts A1 steak sauce on filet mignon and I thought that was incredibly bizarre, but never thought it was like a deal breaker for friendship or anything.

It just requires an ample amount of ribbing. I know a few people who put extra “sauce” on a steak. Every time there will be a comment made. 

In a literal sense it does speak to teppers character though.
