Interim coach

Scott Turner is the one young guy on our staff that is even popping up in ANY NFL teams head coaching lists... and we give it to Perry freaking Fewell..:.

lets not give the only young guy we have a shot against top teams to scheme offenses with our ULTRA talented RB, young receivers, and see what he can do to help scheme for a crappy line... let’s give it to go a guy who will do stupid conservative crap and luckily gets us to 9-7 and we miss the playoffs by 1 game, causing us to get the 20th or so pick... if we went 9-7 with a head coaching candidate, I would not be angry, but every long-term Panthers fan knows what’s coming...

Norv could’ve stayed in his current role and Fewell could’ve taken defensive coordinator over... Sean Mccvay came from somewhere, we’re playing like we’re still in playoff contention... I would halfway understand if we still had a outside shot like the eagles did last year...

Now we get absolutely 0 out of these last four games and we will let a guy audition for “OC” some Deem HC worthy... before you say he’s never even coordinated, look at Fewell’s career history and get back to me... he wasn’t better then Eric Washington but he is better then Scott Turner... lol. My favorite part, we want to move to an offensive approach and we hire a defensive back coach as our interim to begin our change...  I am a big Scott Turner guy, he made Cam with a half bum arm have a 74% completion percentage, it was just too bad after week 10 for him to maintain it. But Perry Fewell deserves the shot to end the season.

Nobody is going to hire Scott Turner to be a head coach. He's never been a coordinator. He does have potential to be a coordinator but if they were to misguidedly make him an interim HC then he wouldn't get to focus on the actual logical step to make.

McVay was a 3 year OC.  Now he's an overrated HC.

It doesn’t matter who the interim is. The only reason Ron was fired is so Tepper could get a head start on a coaching search without doing it behind Ron’s back out of respect. Name the last interim NFL coach who didn’t suck. We don’t want an interim becoming the full time coach.

The Interim hasn't been a defensive coordinator since 2004, what’s the difference? Norv and Scott running the show would’ve made more sense to move the team in the direction of going offensive based like Tepper planned... unless you get Jim Harbaugh, you’re not getting a proven coach. Point is let’s give it a chance with Norv (head coaching experience there) being there if things go terrible... Nothing good is going to come out of Fewell coaching this team... even by some miracle we go 9-7 and make the postseason... Fewell is not coaching this team to the super bowl... it’d be such a Panther thing to do to promote Interim coach who goes 4-0 to finish the year and make the playoffs and get blown out by the mediocre cowboys and pick 24th... Norv’s offense is not why we are 5-7, it’s Rivera’s defense having a terrible run defense.... we scored enough to win in the Superdome... Scott at head coach and Norv at OC is not a terrible idea... we are going to suck either way, the point is nothing good can come out of Fewell running the show except screwing up draft position.

Washington just handed us our A$$... they literally have won double the amount of games since Jay got canned... I’m pissed knowing we will go 8-8, just enough to screw up draft and just little enough to where we can’t break the back to back curse... But my point... why is a career defensive back coach with 1 stint as DC getting an opportunity when we could see what we have with Scott.

Perry is just a placeholder. They never intended for him to be the coach long term. I have a feeling that tepper already has a candidate picked out for HC. He is just waiting out the rest of the season.

That’s my point. Zero is going to come out of this but meaningless wins. Interim coaches tend to pull wins out of their A$$... they work day and night and come up with crazy game plans trying to audition...

Perry has done this before and he wasn't horrible when he did it. I mean he didn't turn the team around but he held it in place the rest of the season.

It's a tough situation to be in. Perry was the right man for the job to get this team through the next few rough weeks.

Scott may have a future as an HC, but being thrown into this quagmire would do neither him nor the team any good.

Norv was probably asked but probably didn't want the responsibility.

Not sure what anyone was expecting from an interim HC anyways. At this point the season is over and we just have to get the players through the next few weeks. I'd think Perry would be a better man for the job than Scott just based on experience and respect garnered over the years as well as confidence that Scott may be lacking stepping into a situation like this.

Who cares probably not going to get a coach any count since Tepper is keeping Hurney as GM. Most good coaches want to make their own moves and when they see what just happened they will be like screw going there.

NFL teams have GMs for making roster decisions. Outside of some rare and almost always failing situations the coach is not the GM. Where did you get that notion?

It's funny that everyone talked about extending Shaq. Then when it happened the tune change. Bitching for the sake of bitching.

I never wanted him extended at any time. He has shown nothing imo to get a contract like that. I would have rather seen them go after someone in FA. He definitely shouldn't have got an extension before Bradberry. Maybe u should watch who u call out before u make assumptions.

    • First of all Sooners fan? Mods? Second if you think someone needs a specific reason to hate Texas you don’t watch real college football.
    • 100% even if rest of team is really talented if they march young out to be qb and he plays like he has for 90% of his starts the panthers have already lost doesnt even matter how good the rest of the team is or isnt and also makes it hard to even tell how good they are.  They need true competition for young this offseason.
    • It will be awesome to have an improved stadium to lose in I guess....   https://www.yahoo.com/news/panthers-file-rezoning-bank-america-111500840.html     The Carolina Panthers have taken another necessary step toward renovating their home of the present and future. Panthers Stadium, LLC, filed its rezoning site plan with the city of Charlotte on Monday, initiating an important — if mostly technical — step toward renovating Bank of America Stadium. The filings state that the rezoning relates “primarily to technical aspects associated with improvements to Bank of America Stadium,” and that the rezoning is required because “the current stadium zoning is out of date” for the team’s stadium renovation plans.   The planned stadium updates include new seats installed throughout the upper and lower bowls; stadium safety and security enhancements; a reimagined South Lawn Pavilion; upgraded restrooms; exterior enhancements (including LED video boards) and more. Planning for the stadium renovation project will continue through 2025, with construction starting in 2026 and the renovation’s conclusion in 2029, The Observer previously reported.
